About me and my therapy practice

Hello! I'm Emma. I am a BACP Accredited humanistic and integrative counsellor, with 13 years of experience. I work online with adults and young adults either in the short or long term. My aim is to help people develop a better relationship with themselves; heal from past trauma, enhance self-esteem and to ease anxiety.

I provide tailored support for clients navigating personal struggles, emotional issues, relationship difficulties, and transitions. My approach is grounded in empathy, understanding, and a commitment to creating a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their feelings, gain clarity, and develop the tools they need to overcome obstacles. I am dedicated to helping individuals achieve emotional well-being and move forward with greater confidence and resilience.

My approach integrates humanistic therapies, the mind-body connection, and trauma-informed approaches. Being a humanistic therapist means, I consider all aspects of you; I work primarily from the person-centred perspective whilst drawing from other theories such as transactional analysis, solution focussed and attachment theory. The focus for therapy is to explore and reflect on previous experiences, current situations, beliefs and emotions, whilst also exploring your hopes for the future.

I understand reaching out for support and talking about how you feel can be daunting, I can offer a safe space for you to explore at your own pace your difficulties and how they may be affecting you today. I believe in the importance of the therapeutic relationship and how this can be healing to those who have experienced trauma or attachment issues.

If my words have resonated, please feel free to email me for an initial 20-minute consultation to help you explore if we will work well together; it is important you find the right fit for you.

Practice description

I am a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist with a PG Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from York St John University. I am an accredited member of the BACP and work in line with the BACP Ethical Framework. I attend monthly clinical supervision and engage in regular continuing professional development to ensure my practice remains ethical, informed, and effective.

I have over 13 years’ experience working in private practice, offering online counselling to adults on both a short and long-term basis. I support individuals experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, trauma, attachment issues, ADHD, loneliness, isolation, and relationship challenges. I aim to provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental space where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings and work collaboratively towards change.

I am trained in Rewind Trauma Therapy, a gentle and effective approach for processing traumatic memories, including PTSD, without the need to disclose traumatic experiences in detail.

Alongside my private practice, I have worked for over 13 years as a university student counsellor. This has given me a strong understanding of the emotional, academic, and personal challenges students may face, including stress, anxiety, depression, neurodiversity, cultural change, relationship difficulties, and the impact of past trauma.

My work in higher education and voluntary roles has given me extensive experience of working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. I welcome clients of different nationalities, cultures, religions, sexual orientations, and ages. I also have a particular interest in the nervous system and how stress and past experiences influence self-worth, behaviour, and relationships.

I specialise in supporting individuals with anxiety and stress, childhood trauma, abuse, depression, bereavement, parenting challenges, and self-esteem. If you feel you may benefit from counselling, you are welcome to get in touch.
