About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m James.
I am a BACP-accredited Counsellor, EMDR Therapist, and Clinical Supervisor with over 20 years of experience working across health, social care, and education.
Since qualifying as a counsellor in 2013, I have worked extensively within NHS and private healthcare services, supporting adults experiencing trauma, PTSD, anxiety, stress, and other emotional difficulties. I currently work within NHS services as a Counsellor, EMDR Therapist, and Clinical Supervisor, alongside private practice.
I completed an EMDR Europe-accredited training programme and deliver EMDR therapy in line with EMDR Europe standards and NICE recommendations. With over 10,000 hours of therapeutic practice, I have helped many individuals process traumatic experiences, reduce emotional distress, and develop greater confidence, resilience, and wellbeing.
My approach is warm, compassionate, and collaborative. I aim to provide a safe, confidential, and supportive space where therapy can progress at a pace that feels right for you.
Practice description
I offer EMDR therapy for adults experiencing trauma, PTSD, anxiety, stress, and a range of emotional and psychological difficulties.
Sessions take place in a private, comfortable, and confidential therapy room, providing a calm and supportive environment where you can feel safe to explore your experiences. I understand that seeking therapy can feel like a significant step, and I strive to create a welcoming, non-judgemental space where you feel listened to, understood, and supported throughout the process.
Whether you are struggling with the impact of a recent traumatic event, childhood experiences, or longer-standing emotional difficulties, I will work alongside you to help reduce distress, strengthen resilience, and support meaningful and lasting change.
My first session
Beginning therapy can feel like a significant step. Understanding what to expect can help you feel more comfortable and informed before starting EMDR treatment.
The process begins with an initial consultation, where we discuss your current difficulties, relevant life experiences, and what you hope to achieve through therapy. This provides an opportunity to explore whether EMDR is an appropriate treatment approach for your needs and to answer any questions you may have.
