About me and my therapy practice
My approach to counselling and psychotherapy is an integrated one, that is, I use a range of different models to create the best therapy to suit the individual. This is certainly not a one size fits all method of working. I believe certain models of psychotherapy lend themselves to specific problems and issues; choosing the correct way of working will produce the best results. My counselling stems from a Humanistic and Transpersonal platform which means I honour every client I see as a valid and worthwhile human-being regardless of the difficulties they may be facing. The counselling relationship is paramount to successful therapy and much emphasis is placed on this area of my work. Given the right support and a safe environment, I believe that people can make the right decisions to move towards the goals that they wish for and to begin to resolve the areas of their lives which may have caused concern.
I have worked for some time at various charities counselling clients with moderate to severe difficulties. I still volunteer for Cruse Bereavement Services. Although challenging, I enjoy this work immensely. I hold a number of diplomas in Hypnotherapy, Counselling and Psychotherapy and have recently completed a MSc degree in Transpersonal Psychology. I am a registered member of the BACP and a member of the General Hypnotherapy Register. As part of my obligations to the BACP, I regularly attend on-going training as part of my Continued Personal Development.
