About me and my therapy practice
During my career of over 20 years, I have worked with most problems a person can encounter. I work in a person centred way, utilising counselling and psychotherapeutic approaches, both of which aim to achieve the goals you bring to your sessions.
I have completed courses on motivational interviewing and behaviour change along with motivational enhancement therapy. Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Mindfulness.
I also worked in hospital settings with people with eating disorders, women experiencing postnatal depression and problems around birth. I have experience working with drug and alcohol problems and anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder.
Grief is a part of life and I like to work with people towards moving forward from loss of any sort and grief can be around any loss, not just a death.
Are you in an abusive relationship where you are gaslit and your partner can do no wrong in other people's eyes, and you are not believed? Then I may be able to help you.
Do you repeat patterns in your life and they are holding you back. These usually come from childhood, and looking at these can help you change the way you react and therefore change the patterns that are not helpful to you.
I am flexible in my approach, tailoring it to your needs.
Practice description
You can expect me to listen, and with the techniques available to me, look at what you would like to happen from your sessions so that you can achieve your goals.
Do you have one of the specific problems I have already spoken of?
Or;
Do you feel like your life repeats harmful patterns?
Or do you just want to feel better about yourself?
Do you worry about feeling you do not belong anywhere?
Give me a call and we can discuss if I could be of help to you.
My first session
The first session would be after I have spoken to you on the phone and you feel you would like to see me in person. It will be an opportunity for you to see if you would like to work with me and for me to see if I could be of help to you. The first session would be about you and what you bring to that session, looking at ways I may be of help, or if it suits you better just turning up with what the problem is and we take it from there. I am flexible in my approach.
