About me and my therapy practice

My aim as a Counsellor/Psychotherapist is to provide a safe, supportive and confidential environment where you can explore anxiety, stress, trauma, painful experiences, loss, conflict, confusion or despair. I feel that a good relationship and humour are essential for counselling to be effective.

I Believe we are all unique individuals and as such we know our selves better than anyone else. In normal times we can manage our own lives and solve our own problems. However, there may be times when we feel stuck, in conflict, anxious, panicky, or have suffered loss. During these times it can help to explore these feelings and gain valuable insight into what is going on. This facilitates better ways of coping and finding the courage to change self destructive thinking and behaviour. I can help you to gain confidence, self-awareness and self-esteem enabling you to have a happier more fulfilling life.

As well as being a counsellor I am a mother a grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. I believe all of these relationships have helped me with my role as a counsellor.

I started my counselling career in 1986 after doing various basic counselling skills courses. I then volunteered as a listener on a children’s helpline. I have had many varied experiences since including workplace counselling and GP practices. I started my private practice, Caleidoscope Counselling Services, in 1999 and have had various contracts with large organisations as well as working with individuals.

I am a BACP ACCREDITED Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I gained a BSc (Hons) Psychology in 1996 and an MA in Counselling in 1997.
