About me and my therapy practice
If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or anxious.
You're not alone.
Life can be hard, and it has its ups and downs. You may be feeling an overwhelming sadness through a bereavement or relationship breakdown, having sleepless nights due to worry.
You don't have to deal with how you feel on your own; having a space to talk can make all the difference.
I have over thirty years of experience supporting individuals to navigate self-doubt and, with a clear head, make life changes
In our work together, I will support you to find your real self and what holds you back and help you challenge unhelpful thought patterns and beliefs.
My modality is integrated, my background being person-centered, integrated with CBT and solution-focused and mindfulness. I work with long- and short-term counseling.
Over the many years of working, I have counselled young people and adults from many different backgrounds and cultures. with symptoms of stress, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma and abuse/rape, bullying, & coping with grief and loss.
I have worked with people with dementia, mental health issues, challenging behavior, and neurodiversity. I was a mentor at a university, and I have worked in EAPs for seven years, five of them in management running a counseling helpline.
My specialism is domestic abuse, with over fifteen years working in the field and a qualification as an IDVA and a level 3 in safeguarding.
I will work with you to gain an understanding of yourself and how you interact with others. Also to gain an understanding of your issues and how to move forward.
Building on your confidence and self-esteem.
Practice description
I believe that you are the expert of your story and that you have many strengths within you that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you. It takes courage to seek out support and take the first steps towards change. I am here to support and empower you in that journey and work towards a more fulfilling and happier life.
I will work with you to gain an understanding of yourself , and how you interact with others. Also to gain an understanding of your issues and how to move forward.
My first session
You may feel nervous starting therapy; I offer a safe, nonjudgmental space to allow you to be open and honest and understand your feelings.
Together we will work at your pace, one step at a time, setting goals that matter to you, whether building relationships or personal goals.
Firstly, I will offer a 15-minute phone call to make sure you understand what counselling is and that we are a positive match.
In the first session, I will complete an assessment to gain an understanding of where you are in your journey and what has brought you to counselling. I will explain about confidentiality and the limitations of this.
