About me and my therapy practice
Sometimes life can become stressful and overwhelming. If you find you are feeling this way, it can be helpful to talk to someone who can help you find the space and time to understand your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. You may be finding it difficult to make sense of why you are feeling anxious, troubled or distressed. Working with a qualified counsellor offers an opportunity to reflect on your life experiences and relationships. Together we can explore and work towards recovery from losses, anxiety, emotional health and wellbeing, gaining a greater insight and developing personal growth and understanding. I am an Accredited Counsellor with the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) with over 20 years’ experience in helping people, both in private practice and within a large organisation, working with adults and groups. I will provide you with a safe, non-judgemental environment where we can explore together the issues or difficulties you may be facing. Your counselling sessions are an opportunity not only to understand why things are difficult, sad or painful, but also for personal growth, so that you can make positive changes in your life. The counselling service I offer is professional, confidential and discrete. The initial appointment (Assessment) gives you the opportunity to meet me; talk about what has prompted you to seek counselling and to decide if counselling is for you. During the Assessment, we can discuss how we might work together, exploring your hopes and expectations from the counselling process, along with giving you the opportunity to decide if I am the right Counsellor for you. The most important part of the counselling relationship is a feeling of connection, from one human being to another. Please contact me by telephone or email to arrange a free 'Telephone Consultation' where I will be happy to discuss any questions you may have.
Practice description
My practice is face-to-face home-based in a safe, confidential therapeutic environment.
I also offer sessions via Zoom.
My first session
The first session will be an Initial Assessment for one hour where we can meet to discuss in detail your reasons for accessing counselling support at this time in your life. We will explore what expectations are important to you, along with the hopeful outcomes you would like at the end of counselling. During the Assessment, I will explain the therapeutic process and how we can work together to meet your expectations and goals. This is the time when you can decide if you feel comfortable working with me, as this is an important part of the therapeutic process. We can plan future sessions, ensuring regular reviews are implemented to monitor your progress towards achieving your initial expectations and goals. What I can help with
