About me and my therapy practice
I am a well respected psychotherapist, counsellor and counselling supervisor in Edinburgh, with over 20 years of experience. I am deeply passionate about the transformative power of therapy, and tenacious in my belief that change is possible.
My approach is grounded in a deep sense of curiosity and a genuine desire to understand your unique experience. I bring a calm, thoughtful presence to each session, creating a space where you can be heard and supported and where we can work together to explore your thoughts and feelings.
I have worked with a broad range of issues over the past 20 years and have particular expertise working with young adults (18-25), work related issues, parenting issues including pre and post-partum experiences, transitions and the impact of family dynamics. I also have significant experience working with neurodivergent clients.
As a psychodynamic therapist, I may support you to consider your past relationships and the unconscious patterns they create which can shape your current thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
I offer both long-term psychotherapy and medium term counselling. Sometimes it’s hard to know which is the best fit for you and this is something that we can discuss in our initial appointment.
I am an accredited member of the BACP and work within their ethical framework. I am a qualified counselling supervisor and tutor and I hold an MSc in Counselling Studies.
Practice description
I run my private practice from a comfortable room in the West End of Edinburgh.
My therapy room is on the second floor; if you have restricted mobility, please let me know and we can discuss the option of telephone counselling.
A limited number of my appointments are offered at a reduced cost as I know that affordability for good quality therapy can be an issue.
My first session
If you think I can help, the first step is to get in touch. Please provide a brief summary of why you're looking for psychotherapy or counselling.
I will get back to you as soon as possible to arrange a free 30 minute telephone conversation.
When we decide to work together, we will arrange a regular time and day to meet for weekly sessions. (I also work on the telephone, with intermittent face to face appointments to support the work)
At that stage I will ask you to fill in your contact details and an emergency contact, and I will send some additional important information relating to procedures.
I look forward to hearing from you.
