About me and my therapy practice

Finding the right support is crucial and the connection between a therapist and client is at the heart of successful therapy. It’s not just about professional expertise—it’s about feeling comfortable, understood, and supported. Often, you’ll get a sense of whether a therapist is the right fit from the very first conversation.

Are you feeling overwhelmed by life’s challenges? Taking the step to seek therapy is an act of strength. Whether you’re navigating grief, loss, anxiety, depression, or other life struggles, you don’t have to face them alone.

I trained as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, and those core principals still underpin my work, but I have become much more eclectic and flexible in my approach over the years drawing on many years of ongoing training and clinical hours.

I offer a personalised, flexible approach, tailoring therapy to your individual needs, experiences, and goals. Drawing on psychodynamic principles, I help you explore how past experiences and unconscious patterns may be shaping your present thoughts, feelings, and relationships. Alongside this deeper work, I can also incorporate practical tools to support you in managing current challenges.

I work collaboratively with you, at your pace, to build insight, resilience, and lasting change.

Practice description

My clients often seem to be coping on the outside but feel lost, stuck, or overwhelmed inside. Many have carried silent struggles for years—anxiety, low self-esteem, anger, grief, addiction, or relationship issues—unsure why life feels so heavy.

They want clarity, connection, and to feel more at ease in themselves. Some come after a crisis; others are simply tired of pretending. They seek a safe space to explore their feelings, understand deep patterns, and believe—perhaps for the first time—that real change is possible.

I have been in practise for over 20 years working with people of all ages from teenagers right through to older people and pride myself on being able to build strong, connected relationships in which real exploration and change can begin.

My relational, psychodynamic approach helps uncover how past experiences shape current struggles.  Whatever you’re carrying, it matters. You're not broken, and you don’t have to face things alone. I'm here to support you, wherever you are in your journey.

What to Expect from ongoing sessions:

Sessions provide a confidential and reflective space where you can talk openly about whatever is on your mind. Together, we will explore your experiences, identify patterns, and work towards a greater understanding of yourself and your needs.

My first session

Let’s see if we’re the right match—reach out for a free 15-minute discovery session either online or telephone.

Ongoing sessions can then be tailored for your circumstances and can be offered either weekly or fortnightly or monthly.  We will discuss this at our first meeting and decide between us which would be right for you.

Before we begin, we’ll agree a clear and straightforward therapeutic (written) contract. This outlines how we will work together and helps create a safe, consistent, and supportive space for you.

The agreement covers practical details such as session length and frequency, fees, and cancellations, as well as confidentiality and its limits. As a therapist, I follow professional and ethical guidelines, which means that what you share will be treated with care and respect, with confidentiality only broken in exceptional circumstances (for example, where there is a risk of serious harm).

The contract also explains boundaries around our work together and how your personal information is stored in line with data protection requirements.

I aim to make this process as transparent and collaborative as possible, and I will always be happy to talk through any part of the agreement or answer any questions you may have.

About me and my therapy practice

I provide a specialist service offering Supervision & Consultation to professionals working with children, young people & families.

Agencies I currently work with include Psychotherapists, Counsellors, Social Care, Mental Health Practitioners, Teachers & Support Staff in Education as well as a variety of professionals working therapeutically with children & young people.

I am Psychodynamic Psychotherapist with over 20 years of clinical experience.

Although Psychodynamic theory underpins my clinical thinking, in my supervision work with Supervisees I am more fluid and use a variety of approaches, strategies and interventions. This enables me to respond appropriately to individuals needs and for the warmth of a therapeutic relationship to act as a supportive base for further exploration, development and growth of your clinical work.

I am also currently working as Wellbeing Lead and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead in a Secondary School and have been Supervising mental health professionals and school staff for many years.  I am Level 3 Safeguard trained and hold a professional Supervision qualification.

Sessions can be held online over Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or face to face at my Consulting Room based in Quedgeley, Gloucestershire.

Practice description

Inspiring supervision and deep reflective practice are at the heart of development, both professionally and personally.  I believe that it is a privilege to earn the trust of my Supervisees and to be invited to walk alongside them as they guide and support their clients.

Offering a specialist service to professionals working with children & young people I draw on my wealth of experience and am informed by the latest research so that your Supervision or Consultation is tailored to your clinical needs.

Types of Supervision offered (often a session is a mixture of the three approaches)

Reflective Supervision: Focuses on the emotional aspects of the work and encourages practitioners to reflect on their feelings, thoughts, and experiences when working with children and young people.

Clinical Supervision: Clinical supervision establishes a formal process of support, reflection, learning and development that is of benefit to both newly registered and experienced professionals by supporting their individual development. Focusing on improving clinical skills, knowledge, and practice.

Caseload Supervision: An ability to monitor and if necessary adjust the supervisee's caseload (e.g. number. of clients, case mix and balance of type of work) in order to ensure that you are able to function optimally.

Consultation: Consultation sessions can be a one off or multiple sessions offered to think through a particular case or circumstance.  Often used by organisations such as Schools or Colleges to help build support plans for students and families. It may involve discussing treatment strategies, student plans, diagnostic considerations, client life experience conceptualisation, or interventions tailored to a particular client or situation.

• Consultation can be more informal and occur less often compared to supervision.

In all of my work I hold central the importance of constructive challenge and the need for us all to be held to account for our professional action or in-action.

My first session

After initial contact by telephone or email our first session will be to establish if my approach would suit your needs.  If so we will spend that session agreeing our contract, and agenda, which will include time frame for meetings and expectations.

This session is charged at my hourly rate.
