About me and my therapy practice

You may have reached a point where coping no longer feels like enough.

Perhaps you're feeling anxious, overwhelmed, low in mood, stuck in unhelpful patterns, or disconnected from yourself. You may be struggling with relationship difficulties, grief, trauma, intrusive thoughts, or the impact of experiences from the past that continue to affect your life today.

Whatever has brought you to therapy, you don't have to face it alone.

I am a fully qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor (FdSc Couns, Dip Couns) and Trauma-Informed Practitioner with over 20 years' experience supporting emotional well-being, including the last nine years in private practice.

I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and hold a current Certificate of Proficiency.

I am also a qualified Online Counsellor and have undertaken specialist training with the Foundation for Infant Loss, holding recognition as a Pregnancy and Infant Loss Specialist and Rainbow Baby Specialist.

My approach is warm, compassionate and non-judgemental. I believe that being truly heard and understood can be the beginning of meaningful change. Therapy offers a space to step away from the pressures of everyday life, explore your thoughts and feelings openly, and develop a deeper understanding of yourself.

I work with adults aged 18+ and support people experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD/CPTSD, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, low self-esteem, stress, burnout, intrusive thoughts, life transitions, infertility, pregnancy and infant loss, and many other emotional and psychological challenges.

I offer both face-to-face counselling from my private practice in Chippenham and online therapy via secure video platforms.

Practice description

I work in an integrative and relational way, tailoring therapy to each individual because no single approach is right for everyone.

My work is informed by Humanistic, Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, Trauma-Informed, CBT, Solution-Focused and Mindfulness-based approaches. This allows me to adapt therapy according to your needs, personality, experiences and goals.

I aim to provide a safe, supportive and collaborative therapeutic relationship where you feel accepted and able to explore whatever is troubling you. Together we can identify patterns, develop greater self-awareness, understand emotional responses, and find healthier ways of coping with life's challenges.

I offer both short-term and longer-term therapy.

Short-term counselling can be useful when focusing on a specific issue such as anxiety, bereavement, stress, low mood, or a relationship difficulty.

Longer-term therapy provides space to explore deeper-rooted issues, recurring patterns, childhood experiences and the impact these may have on your current life and relationships.

As a Trauma-Informed Practitioner, I understand how overwhelming experiences can affect emotional wellbeing, relationships, self-esteem and day-to-day functioning. My approach prioritises emotional safety, trust and working at a pace that feels manageable for you.

I am fully insured, undertake regular continuing professional development, and attend ongoing clinical supervision in accordance with BACP ethical requirements.

My first session

Starting therapy can feel daunting, and it's natural to feel nervous about taking that first step.

Finding the right counsellor is important. The relationship between client and therapist is one of the strongest predictors of successful therapy, so feeling comfortable and understood matters.

I offer a free 15-minute confidential telephone consultation if you would like to ask any questions before booking.

Alternatively, you are welcome to just book straight in for an initial assessment.

The first session lasts up to 1 hour and provides an opportunity for us to get to know one another and discuss what has brought you to counselling.

We will explore the difficulties you are experiencing, what you hope to gain from therapy, and any relevant background information that may help me understand your situation more fully. This also gives you the opportunity to ask questions about counselling, how I work, and whether I feel like the right therapist for you.

There is no obligation to continue after the first session. If we decide to work together, we will agree a way forward that feels appropriate for your needs, whether that involves short-term support or longer-term therapy.

My aim is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, understood and clearer about how counselling may be able to help.
