About me and my therapy practice

Over the past 17 years of clinical practice, I have come to learn that meaningful change happens in relationship. As a psychotherapist working with couples and individuals, my work is primarily informed by Transactional Analysis and delivered through an integrative approach, allowing me to draw upon a range of therapeutic ideas and perspectives in a way that best supports the work. I work with people to understand the patterns shaping their relationships and sense of self, whilst exploring what may be preventing change.

Many people who come to therapy already know that something is not working. They may find themselves repeating the same patterns in relationships, struggling to express what they think or feel, adapting around others to keep the peace, or feeling stuck between wanting something different and feeling unable to move towards it.

Together, we can begin to understand your circumstances and the experiences that have contributed to where you are today. Therapy offers an opportunity to bring these experiences into relationship with another person, where they can be explored, understood, challenged, and responded to.

My approach is warm, relational, and active. I am not a therapist who simply sits quietly and listens. I will share observations, offer perspectives, and help you understand what may be happening beneath the surface. Together we can develop greater awareness of the patterns influencing your life and relationships, whilst exploring the choices available to you moving forward.

Understanding is important, but understanding alone rarely creates change. The challenge is often not a lack of insight, but feeling unable to act on what we know. Fear, self-doubt, old patterns, or uncertainty can keep us stuck long after we have recognised the problem.

My work also draws upon a range of theoretical, experiential, and creative approaches, including attachment theory, parts work and sandtray. You are welcome to learn more about my approach on my website.

Practice description

I work with both couple and individuals.

Clients often seek support because they are struggling in their relationships, experiencing anxiety, low mood, loss, life transitions, conflict, self-esteem difficulties, or a sense of feeling stuck. Many recognise recurring patterns in their lives but are unsure how to create a different outcome.

I believe that understanding is important, but understanding alone rarely creates change. Many people already know more about their difficulties than they realise. The challenge is often not a lack of insight, but feeling unable to act on what they know. Fear, self-doubt, old patterns, or uncertainty about what comes next can keep us stuck long after we have recognised the problem.

Therapy offers an opportunity to bring these experiences into relationship with another person, where they can be explored, understood, challenged, and responded to.

If two people keep showing up honestly and continue exploring together, something useful eventually emerges.

My aim is to help clients develop a clearer understanding of themselves, their relationships, and the patterns shaping their lives. Over time this often leads to greater self-awareness, improved boundaries, increased confidence, more authentic self-expression, and a stronger sense of choice and direction.

Therapy is not about becoming a different person. It is about arriving more fully into yourself and moving towards a more satisfying way of being.

My first session

I offer an initial consultation session which is the same length and fee as a standard therapy session.

The first session provides an opportunity for us to begin getting to know one another and explore what has brought you to therapy. We will discuss your current difficulties, what you would like to gain from therapy, and any questions or concerns you may have about the process.

I will also spend some time understanding your current circumstances, relationships, and relevant aspects of your personal history. This helps us begin building a picture of the factors that may be contributing to the difficulties you are experiencing.

Where appropriate, I may begin to use Transactional Analysis concepts to map patterns, identify themes, and develop an early understanding of what may be happening. Before the session ends, I will often share my initial thoughts about what I believe may be contributing to your difficulties and how I may be able to support you.

The consultation is also an opportunity for both of us to assess whether we feel we are a good fit to work together and whether therapy with me feels like the right next step.
