About me and my therapy practice

Over the 10 years that I have specialised in working with people from various walks of life, I have provided genuine, warm and consistent care.

I take seriously the work I need to do to be effective in this priviledged position to walk alongside another.

"Rachel has the ability to spark new ways of thinking across all topics. If you’re looking for someone non-pushy, non-judgemental, and someone genuine, it’s Rachel." - a returning client

We live in a world that places constant pressure on us: to perform, to please, to hold it all together. With me, you'll be offered a space to be with your experience, just as it is, and exploring what healing and growth might look like for you.

Therapy can make space for your truth to emerge without judgement. You deserve that space and time

Practice description

I won't be a blank, neutral slate nodding silently at you. I'm a companion on your journey, I bring my full, engaged human self into the room: warm, curious, gently challenging, and deeply present. In our work together, you’ll have agency and choice. We’ll go at your pace, guided by what feels safe and meaningful for you.

Together, we'll explore the formative chapters of your story and explore the layers of your experience, cultural, familial, and systemic, that shaped who you are today and begin writing new ones filled with self-compassion, empowerment, and meaningful growth.

My first session

I offer a free intial consultation for us both to ascertain whether we'd work well together.

Once we both agree to proceed, you'll receive a welcoem email with our counselling agreement, payment process and my policy.

In the first session we'll complete an initial assessment together, to help me begin to get to know you better and for you to decide what feel most important to focus on.

We'll check in around 6 sessions to see how you're feeling about the direction of our work together.

Pauses and breaks are normal and most of my clients work with my long term, and return for different seasons/chapters of their lives.

About me and my therapy practice

Life takes us through changing landscapes. Whether you're navigating overwhelming anxiety, persistent depression, relational stuckness, or the heavy weight of trauma, you don't have to travel alone.

The most important thing to me is our relationship. I am trauma-informed and culturally reponsive therapist.

I provide a compassionate therapeutic space where you can safely untangle complex emotional patterns and move forward with renewed clarity, skills and hope.

Healing isn't a straight path, but I'm here to walk beside you as you find your way home to yourself.

There are no prerequisites to the right to invest in your journey, to move towards an authentic and joyful life.

What This Looks Like in Sessions:

I will:

✓ Remind you that my thoughts and expertise are just one perspective and interpretation

✓ Make it clear when something is a suggestion, not a requirement

✓ Welcome you questioning or disagreeing with me

The Work:

- Understanding the different parts, learn to listen to them with compassion (no part is 'bad' and they all have a purpose)

- How past experiences shape present relationships

- Learn to be the person you've always needed

- I help guide you through practical and experiential skills to get unstuck

I won't:

❌ Pathologize or shame you

❌ Call your coping mechanisms 'disordered'

❌ Rush you into depths you're not ready for

❌ Pretend I have all the answers

Your responses make sense. All of your parts make sense.

Practice description

My Approach

My therapeutic approach is humanistic, relational, embodied, trauma-informed and culturally sensitive. I put our relationship and your emotional safety at the centre of my care.

We cannot heal in isolation. Many of our woundings occur in relationships. Therefore, relational healing and repair happens in connection.

We live in a world that places constant pressure on us: to perform, to please, to hold it all together. With me, you'll be offered a space to be with your experience, just as it is, and exploring what healing and growth might look like for you.

Therapy can make space for your truth to emerge without judgement. You deserve that space and time

Together, we'll explore the formative chapters of your story and explore the layers of your experience, cultural, familial, and systemic, that shaped who you are today and begin writing new ones filled with self-compassion, empowerment, and meaningful growth.

The Bottom Line

Therapy is not, yet another place where you have to perform or get it 'right.'

If something I say doesn't land, tell me. If the pace feels off, we adjust. This is your space.

My first session

Our first session will be involve an "assessment", basically I ask some questions to help me get to know you better and to help me get a sense of what you need support with.

You don't have to answer any questions you're not comfortable with.
