About me and my therapy practice
I'm Katherine and I have been working as a counsellor for many years and I bring a wealth of experience to my work with adults, young people and children aged 9+.
Life can bring challenges which may lead to feelings of overwhelm, distress or confusion. You may be finding it difficult to make sense of what you are feeling and why, or unsure about the next steps to take, and this is where counselling can help you.
My approach is kind, supportive and genuine, where my focus is on you and your concerns - whether these stem from sudden life events or have evolved over time. Our work together will be sensitive to your needs and evolve at the pace which feels right for you.
I work from a recognised person-centred base and am trained to safely integrate ideas and strategies from other recognised therapeutic approaches. This ensures that our work together is appropriate for you and supports your sense of wellbeing and the direction you would like your life to take.
Alongside my experience as a counsellor, I also bring in-depth knowledge having previously worked as a core tutor on professional counselling training courses for working with adults, children and young people - most recently CPCAB Diploma and Certificate qualifications at Levels 4 and 5.
In addition to counselling, I work as a clinical supervisor, supervising the work of other counsellors who work with adults and young people.
Practice description
I work from my own dedicated private office, located in a peaceful, rural location with free parking on site. My office is situated on the first floor and accessed via a staircase.
I also offer remote sessions via Zoom or the telephone. If you are thinking about meeting in these ways, there are some additional considerations which I can discuss with you at the time of your enquiry to ensure this option feels right for you.
To help understand if I am the right counsellor for you, I offer an initial telephone call or Zoom (20 minutes at no cost). This gives us each a chance to meet and discuss how we may work together.
My first session
Appointments are usually attended in a regular timeslot and each session lasts for 50 minutes.
In the first session we will start to get to know one another and I will ask you some questions to gain an overview of your situation and to understand in more detail about what you are looking for help with. There is nothing you need to prepare in advance and the session will take place at a pace which feels right for you.

About me and my therapy practice
I am experienced in providing supervision to both qualified and trainee counsellors who work with young people and / or adults. Additionally, for those professionals already working as supervisors I can provide ‘supervision of your supervision’ sessions.
My training also equips me to facilitate therapeutic supervision groups for counsellors or those who work as mental health professionals, or in skilled support roles with adults and / or young people.
I bring in-depth knowledge and experience, having previously worked as a core tutor on professional counselling training courses for working with adults, children and young people - most recently CPCAB Diploma and Certificate qualifications at Levels 4 and 5.
Qualifying as a clinical supervisor in 2021, my therapeutic modality is integrative, humanistic and relational. My approach to supervision utilises the Alliance Model (Proctor) which supports the balance between the different aspects of supervision (normative, formative and restorative).
I believe that a relational approach to supervision is key to being able to develop and sustain rich working relationships, and to help facilitate this I incorporate the Seven-Eyed Model of Supervision (Hawkins and Shohet) into our work. This helps to focus in on areas in a way which is responsive to what is being brought into the room and the context of our relationship - ultimately helping to develop your practice and support client wellbeing.
Practice description
As the relationship we build together is a vital part of the supervision process, I offer a 20 minute introductory telephone call or Zoom at no charge, so that we can see how we connect and to talk through your supervision needs.
Session fees are based on £60 per 60 minutes (pro rata) for qualified counsellors / £50 per 60 minutes for counsellors undertaking their qualifying training.
The minimum stand-alone session length I offer is 30 minutes.
