About me and my therapy practice
Reaching out for counselling can feel like a big step, especially if you’re feeling overwhelmed, worn down, or unsure what needs to change. It isn’t always about coming to therapy because everything has fallen apart; often it’s because something no longer feels quite right and you want a non-judgemental space to begin understanding yourself more clearly.
You don’t need to be sure what you want from counselling to begin. Uncertainty can be a very natural starting point, and if you do have a clearer sense of what you’d like to explore, that’s welcome too.
I am a person-centred counsellor and psychotherapist, registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and fully insured. My work is grounded in the belief that change begins within an authentic, respectful therapeutic relationship. Therapy is not about being fixed or analysed, but about having time and support to explore your experiences at your own pace.
I work with adults in Stafford and across the UK, offering online counselling and therapy. People often come wanting to make sense of anxiety, stress, burnout, emotional overwhelm, relationship difficulties, or the cumulative impact of work and life pressures.
Alongside my broader therapeutic work, I bring particular experience in working with people in caring roles and helping professions, with attention to burnout and professional trauma and fatigue, as well as working with experiences of domestic or sexual abuse, trauma, and post-traumatic stress, using a careful, trauma-aware approach.
Alongside my person-centred training, I have undertaken additional training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis, and short-term solution-focused approaches, which inform my understanding while keeping my work firmly person-centred.
I work online, offering a thoughtful and confidential space that can fit around everyday life and responsibilities. Sessions can be short- or long-term, depending on what feels most helpful for you.
Practice description
My practice offers a calm, thoughtful space where you are supported to explore what is going on for you, at a pace that feels right. As a BACP-registered person-centred counsellor and psychotherapist, my work is guided by professional, ethical standards that prioritise safety, respect, and confidentiality.
Person-centred therapy places the therapeutic relationship at the heart of the work. This means you can expect to be met with empathy, honesty, and non-judgement. Rather than directing, diagnosing, or analysing, I aim to create a relationship in which you feel able to speak openly and reflect on your experiences, including thoughts or feelings that may feel confusing, uncomfortable, or hard to voice elsewhere.
Sessions are collaborative and shaped around what you bring. Some people arrive with a clear focus or concern; others come with a sense that something isn’t quite right but are unsure where to begin. Both are welcome. There is no expectation to perform, explain yourself neatly, or make progress to a particular timetable.
I work ethically and reflectively, with a strong commitment to ongoing learning, supervision, and professional development. Alongside my core person-centred training, I have undertaken additional training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis, and short-term solution-focused approaches. While my practice remains firmly person-centred, this wider training informs my understanding and supports a responsive, flexible way of working.
I currently offer online counselling, providing continuity and accessibility for clients in Stafford and across the UK. Sessions may be short-term or longer-term, depending on your needs, circumstances, and preferences. Throughout our work together, you can expect care, respect, and a professional commitment to your wellbeing.
My first session
Before our first session, I will email you a copy of my therapy agreement, which includes practical information about confidentiality, boundaries, and how I work. I encourage you to read through this in your own time and then return it to me before we meet. If anything feels unclear, we can talk it through together.
Our first session is a space to begin getting to know one another and to explore what has led you to consider counselling, at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Some people arrive with a clear sense of what they would like to work on, while others are less sure. Both are completely welcome.
We will spend some time gently exploring what you may or may not be looking for from therapy, any questions or concerns you might have, and whether working together feels like a good fit. There is no expectation to share anything you are not ready to talk about, and no pressure to make decisions quickly.
Sessions are arranged at a time that works for us both. The first session is charged at my usual rate and is offered in the same way as ongoing sessions.
