About me and my therapy practice

Accredited BACP counsellor with 10+ years’ experience. Bridging neuroscience and compassionate listening, I work with you to gently process difficult emotions, unlock your natural capacity to heal, and support you in reconnecting with your true self.

My counselling theoretical model is firmly rooted in the belief that each person possesses an innate ability and potential. This belief is well-supported by evidence.

My role is to listen empathetically and be present as you process your feelings including the difficult ones. I’ll encourage you to reconnect with yourself and discover your own resources. I’ll support you in moving forward so you can realise your full potential.

This is achieved by means of a genuine therapeutic relationship in a warm environment where you can feel safe, supported and free to explore whatever difficulties you may be facing.

I offer a compassionate, safe presence so you can feel truly heard and understood. This attuned relationship activates your brain’s natural neuroplasticity, enabling you to safely rewire old patterns, heal, and feel deeply ’OK’ with who you truly are.

Practice description

Starting counselling can be daunting, especially if you’ve had previous support that didn’t work out or the benefits didn’t last. I offer a free initial consultation to discuss your questions about me and the counselling process and any concerns you might have. This is also a chance for us to consider if we’re a good fit.

Experience:

My experience includes over ten years of working with private clients individually and with couples as well as working at a local university’s student counselling service. Earlier in my career I volunteered as a counsellor at Liverpool Bereavement Service.

Clients seek my counselling for a diverse range of issues including anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidal ideation, stress, work-related stress, sexual identity, low self-esteem, past trauma, relationship problems, religion and discrimination.

I’ve witnessed remarkable positive changes in clients with a long history of low mood, anxiety, panic attacks, depression and trauma. In some cases they’ve reported feeling “free” “liberated” or “excited about life” after just a few counselling sessions.

Fees:

- Initial telephone consultation: Free (up to 20 minutes)

- Individual sessions: £50 (50 minutes)

- Couples: £60 (60 minutes)

I also offer the sessions in Spanish.

My first session

At the start of our first session, I will explain (and give you a copy) of the ‘working agreement’ and GDPR (data protection) statement for you to sign prior to us starting the session. This includes confidentiality its limitations, practicalities of arranging/cancelling the sessions, fees, and ethical considerations.

We’ll discuss your goals and expectations and how we can best achieve them. I may ask further questions to fully understand your issues but you’ll always have the choice of how much you want to share. Then we can begin clinical work. I’ll do my best to put you at ease and attentively listen to your difficulties.

You won’t need to fill assessments forms or complete tasks during or in between sessions unless you wish to do so.

Towards the end of each session we will review it, to track our progress so that we can adjust or make changes if necessary.

Practice description

My Approach

My work is grounded in Peter Hawkins and Robin Shohet’s Seven-Eyed Model. This systemic framework allows us to explore your clinical work from multiple perspectives.

• The client’s presentation and history.

• The interventions and techniques you use

• The conscious and unconscious dynamics of the therapeutic relationship (transference and countertransference).

• Your internal processes as a practitioner.

• Our own supervisory relationship and parallel processes.

• The wider systemic, cultural, and organizational context of your work.

Whether you are an experienced practitioner looking to deepen your clinical insights or a trainee navigating your initial hours, I tailor my support to meet your current developmental needs while keeping the BACP Ethical Framework at the heart of our practice.

My first session

A collaborative review of our working contract is the foundation of our first session together, ensuring we establish a secure and transparent framework for our future work. This initial meeting is an opportunity to align our expectations, explore your unique developmental goals, and discuss how my supervisory practice can best support you.

Here is what you can expect during our first session:

• Contract Exploration: We will collaboratively review our working contract. We will establish clear ethical boundaries, professional expectations, to provide a safe, secure containment framework for your practice.

• Your Goals and Expectations: We will discuss your current caseload, your clinical experience, and what you specifically want to get out of supervision. Whether you are a trainee navigating your initial hours or an experienced practitioner looking to deepen your clinical insights, we will map out your immediate and long-term developmental needs.

• My Practice and Approach: I will introduce you to how I work, specifically how we will use Hawkins and Shohet’s Seven-Eyed Model to view your client work from multiple systemic and relational perspectives.

• Ethical Alignment: We will touch upon how we will integrate the BACP Ethical Framework at the heart of our practice to protect your clients, uphold the integrity of your work, and safeguard your own professional well-being.

By the end of this first session, we will have a shared understanding of how we will work together to foster your professional autonomy and ensure you feel robustly supported.
