About me and my therapy practice

I have broad experience and training as a therapist. I'm warm and down-to-earth and care deeply about supporting my clients to repair and transform their lives. Integrative and Sensorimotor (Body) Psychotherapy informs my whole system approach, which is led by the belief that distress can be apparent in our emotions, thoughts, behaviour, spirit and in our bodies. I specialise in trauma and attachment, offering a unique and effective approach to working which is grounded in neuroscientific understanding. I have additional experience of supporting those with chronic illness, disability and neurodivergence.

I would work flexibly, creatively and collaboratively with you to address your issues. I have a deep understanding of how our early experiences can affect us in the present and of how we can free ourselves from unhelpful patterns. I offer a confidential, safe space, free of judgement, to explore who you are and what is causing you distress. I pay close attention to the importance of pacing and trust within the counselling relationship. I also hold an awareness of how social, political, religious and cultural factors can affect people's experiences of the world.

You may need help to achieve greater stability, to understand yourself better, to improve your relationships (at work or in your personal life), to pursue your goals, to achieve greater peace of mind and/or to process and transform experiences of pain, trauma and distress. I am hopeful in the potential for therapy to transform and help you to achieve greater peace of mind, resilience and spontaneity to enjoy the present and live life to the full.

Practice description

I offer my clients a safe and accepting place to explore and process their issues at a pace which feels right for them. I work collaboratively and flexibly to suit the specific needs of each client. Primarily, my approach is about developing a sound working relationship between us. Our work together is a joint endeavour and I work in an open and transparent way. I pay careful attention to pacing in the work and to trust within the counselling relationship. My approach is not necessarily about remembering and talking about old events; it is about repairing the injuries suffered as a result of them.

My first session

A first session gives us both a chance to gauge whether we are a good fit to work together. Feel free to ask any questions you may have during this session - and at any point in the work - I encourage an open and collaborative approach and value feedback. I encourage clients to trust their instincts and make decisions that feel right for them - both after an initial session and throughout any work we do together.
