About me and my therapy practice
Are you feeling cut off from those around you? And maybe from your normal self? Life events can leave us feeling isolated and confused. I offer a space where you can explore whatever is happening in your life and work out a way forward.
I am an experienced therapist working with clients who may be feeling overwhelmed or stuck, anxious, angry or depressed.
Whether you are experiencing a difficult life event or situation, unhappy in your relationships with others or struggling with feelings that you don't fully understand, talking to an objective professional can help.
I offer a space where you can talk about and gain greater understanding of your self and your feelings. I will listen with kindness and good humour, and without judging.
Sometimes simply talking through current problems can bring relief and greater clarity.
Sometimes, past experiences influence the way we feel about things in the present. Talking and thinking about past experiences, perhaps from childhood, can be helpful in understanding current feelings and relationships. This might involve identifying underlying emotional patterns and then working to change any which no longer serve you in life.
I understand that starting therapy can feel daunting, and I welcome clients who might be feeling ambivalent about it.
Practice description
I have more than fifteen years of counselling experience working with private clients, charities, Employee Assistance Programmes and the NHS.
I have a Master's degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy from City University.
My counselling training was integrative, meaning that I studied a number of different approaches, and I tailor my approach to the individual client.
More recently, I qualified as a Dynamic Interpersonal Therapist, having trained at the Anna Freud Centre. DIT is a time limited (16 session) model of psychodynamic therapy based in attachment theory. I have been delivering this model to NHS patients for five years and I am happy to discuss working in this way with any private clients who may be interested.
