About me and my therapy practice
Some experiences are difficult to talk about, even with those closest to us. I offer a safe, confidential space where you can bring whatever is affecting you, without fear of judgement. You don’t have to worry about feeling like a burden, as you might with others.
I have nearly 20 years’ experience working therapeutically with adults, adolescents and children. I provide online counselling for adults and have a specialist experience and interest in supporting young adults (18-25) and parents of children with SEND.
My approach is person-centred, which means I focus on building a genuine, trusting relationship where you feel safe, accepted, and understood — a space where you can be your true self.
I won’t tell you what to do or try to “fix” you. Instead, I will listen carefully and share reflections, professional knowledge, and ideas to support your understanding, healing and growth.
My aim is to help you understand yourself more deeply, develop healthier ways of coping, and connect with your own inner strength and resources.
Practice description
I offer a warm, non-judgemental, and inclusive space. I welcome clients of all ethnicities, genders, sexualities, faiths, abilities and neurotypes. I am committed to working in a respectful, affirming, and anti-oppressive way. I recognise the impact that inequality and discrimination have on people’s lives and their mental health.
Supporting your nervous system
My work is informed by polyvagal theory, which looks at how our nervous system responds to stress and safety. In simple terms, this helps us understand why you might feel anxious, shut down, or on edge — and how to bring your body and mind back into balance.
Where helpful, I support clients to recognise these responses and develop practical ways to feel calmer and more emotionally regulated in daily life.
My first session
Before starting counselling, I offer a free 20 minute phone call to talk through what you're looking for and whether my way of working is a good fit for you.
In the first session, we will go through the counselling contract and practical arrangements, and I will carry out an initial assessment to help understand your needs and what you are hoping for from counselling.
As part of the assessment I will take notes and you are welcome to ask questions at any point.
The session is also an opportunity for you to get a sense of how it feels to work together.
