About me and my therapy practice

Your usual coping strategies aren't working. Reaching out is a big step, and you've already taken it.

Choosing a counsellor is hard. You don't know if you'll trust them, or even like them. I've been there. I can't promise I'm different from anyone else, but the right fit comes down to whether they "get you." That relationship can become a turning point.

I work mainly person-centred, drawing on other approaches where they help. That means I work intuitively and creatively, offering a warm, non-judgemental space to say what you really feel.

Whether it's for you, a child or a young person, I'd be glad to hear from you.

Practice description

Welcome. My counselling practice began in 2011, and following a passion for deeper support, I completed a specialist Trauma Diploma in 2019. Throughout my practice, I have had the privilege of supporting adults, children, and young people of all genders through the painful impacts of trauma, sexual violence, and abuse.

My Specialism

My core expertise lies in helping individuals who have been impacted by coercive or narcissistic relationships. Whether you are currently in one or trying to heal from a past relationship, I guide you in processing these dynamics so you can reclaim your voice, choices, and confidence for the future.

How We Can Work Together

Every person’s journey is unique. Alongside traditional room-based therapy, I offer creative approaches and outdoor walk-and-talk sessions around Conwy and Colwyn Bay. Research highlights how powerful nature can be for mental health, and many clients find moving in the outdoors helps ground their therapeutic work.

If you are struggling with anxiety or depression, I can help you develop practical coping strategies and fresh ways of thinking to feel more in control. Take a look at my website for more information. learntobecounsellingservices.com

My first session

Taking the first step into therapy can feel daunting, so I aim to make the process as gentle and transparent as possible.

We begin with an initial, complimentary 15-minute phone consultation. This brief call gives us a chance to connect, allows you to share a little about what brings you to therapy, and gives you space to ask any questions you might have. If you feel comfortable moving forward, we can then arrange our first session. Prior to our meeting, I will email you my practice agreement so you have all the practical details to read through at your own pace.

Our first full-hour session is an opportunity for you to talk openly about how you are feeling and explore what you hope to gain from our work together. While I may carry out an initial assessment to understand your needs, every session is tailored entirely to you. You remain in control of your therapeutic journey—including how we work and how often we meet. Many clients begin with six sessions, but this is always flexible and adaptable to your life.

I offer sessions face-to-face, online, and over the telephone. Remote counselling can be just as effective and deeply connected as meeting in person, allowing you to choose the format that feels most comfortable for you.

Therapy is a collaborative process—I do not hold all the answers or carry a magic wand. What I do offer is a safe, compassionate space where I will sit alongside you, helping you make sense of your experiences and find practical solutions so you can feel more grounded, empowered, and hopeful in the here and now.
