About me and my therapy practice

I'm Lara Kora, MA, MBACP, a psychotherapist, clinical supervisor and trainer with many years of experience in therapeutic practice, professional education and creative approaches to psychological exploration.

My background includes psychotherapy, play therapy, sandplay, sandtray and Jungian approaches to working with the unconscious. I'm also the founder and creator of SandStory®, a therapeutic approach using sand, symbols and stories.

My work is grounded in the belief that the relationship between therapist and client is central to meaningful therapeutic exploration.

I offer a warm, thoughtful and reflective space where you are invited to explore your experiences at your own pace, without pressure to find immediate answers or put everything into words.

My individual practice is dedicated to working with female therapists, offering a reflective space for personal exploration, professional development and the challenges of running a therapeutic practice.

As therapists, we spend much of our professional lives attending to the experiences of others. I believe it's equally important to have somewhere we can turn our attention towards ourselves, our own stories and the questions that arise in our personal and professional lives.

My approach is relational, creative and informed by Jungian psychology. Where appropriate, we might work with sand, symbols, imagery or other creative ways of exploring your experiences.

Above all, I believe in respecting your individual process and allowing your own story to unfold.

A Reflective Space for Female Therapists

My individual practice is dedicated to supporting female therapists who want time and space to focus on themselves, their professional identity and the work they bring into the world.

I offer a combination of personal exploration, reflective professional support and coaching around therapeutic practice and business development.

You might be navigating a transition in your career, exploring your relationship with your work, developing your own approach to practice or wanting to reconnect with your creativity, confidence and sense of direction.

My approach is relational, reflective and informed by Jungian psychology, with opportunities to explore experiences through SandStory®, imagery and symbolic work.

Our work is shaped by your individual needs and interests, with space for both personal and professional exploration.

I work exclusively with female therapists.

Individual appointments are £100 per hour, on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 am and 2 pm.

My first session

Our first session is an opportunity for us to meet, get to know one another and explore what has brought you here.

As a therapist yourself, you may be looking for something a little different. Perhaps you want space for personal exploration, support with a professional transition, or an opportunity to reflect on your therapeutic practice, your business and the direction you'd like to take.

We'll begin by talking about what matters to you, what you're hoping to gain from our time together and the kind of support that would feel most helpful.

My approach is warm, collaborative and client-led. There's no expectation that you share everything in our first meeting, and no pressure to work creatively unless that interests you.

We can also explore whether personal therapy, reflective professional support or coaching is the most appropriate way for us to work together, with clear boundaries around each.

Most importantly, this first meeting gives us both an opportunity to decide whether working together feels like a good fit.

Sessions are 60 minutes at £100, with appointments available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10am and 2pm.

About me and my therapy practice

My Approach to SandStory Supervision®

I'm Lara Kora, MA, MBACP, a psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, trainer and the founder and creator of SandStory®.

My professional background includes psychotherapy, play therapy, sandplay, sandtray, clinical supervision and university teaching. These experiences have shaped my understanding of the therapeutic relationship, the importance of therapist presence and the value of creative exploration in professional practice.

I offer SandStory Supervision® exclusively to qualified and trainee SandStory therapists who wish to explore their therapeutic work through a creative, reflective and relational approach.

At the heart of my supervision practice is the belief that supervision is more than discussing cases or reviewing clinical decisions. It's also an opportunity to explore what happens within the therapist, within the therapeutic relationship and within the wider context of the work.

SandStory Supervision® brings sand, symbols and stories into the supervisory relationship, creating opportunities to explore clinical experiences beyond words.

My approach is collaborative, supportive and appropriately challenging. We attend to ethical practice, professional responsibilities, boundaries and the therapist's own responses, while remaining curious about the deeper stories that emerge.

I see supervision as a space for professional development, creativity and thoughtful reflection, where the therapist is supported to deepen their understanding of both their clients and themselves.

Clinical Supervision for SandStory Therapists

My supervision is specifically focused on clinical work using SandStory Therapy® and is intended to form part of a therapist's formal clinical supervision arrangements.

Some therapists come to me for an individual session when their regular clinical supervisor is unfamiliar with SandStory® or unable to supervise this aspect of their practice.

Others seek specialist supervision as they develop their confidence and experience in working with sand, symbols and stories.

Sessions provide an opportunity to explore clinical material, the therapeutic relationship, ethical questions and professional responsibilities through the SandStory® approach.

In-person supervision:

Sessions take place at the SandStory Centre in London, where a sandtray and a collection of symbols are available for use during our work together.

Online supervision:

For online sessions, I invite supervisees to have access to their own sandtray, sand and a selection of symbols. This allows us to work creatively and experientially, even when we're meeting remotely.

Sessions provide space to explore clinical material, ethical considerations, professional boundaries and the developing confidence and competence of the SandStory therapist.

My supervision is available exclusively to qualified and trainee SandStory therapists. I do not currently offer general clinical supervision outside the SandStory® approach.

Individual supervision: £100 per hour

Appointments are available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 am and 2 pm.

Further information is available at https://www.sandstory.org/workwithme

My first session

Beginning Our Supervisory Work

Our first supervision session is an opportunity to meet, explore your experience of SandStory Therapy® and discuss what you're looking for from supervision.

We'll talk about your current practice, the clients you work with, your professional responsibilities and any particular areas where you'd welcome support or further exploration.

I'll also explain my approach to SandStory Supervision®, including how we use sand, symbols and stories within the supervisory process.

Together, we'll consider our expectations, professional boundaries, confidentiality and the practical arrangements for our work.

You are welcome to bring a particular clinical question or experience you'd like to explore, although there is no pressure to arrive with a fully formed agenda.

My intention is to establish a supportive, collaborative supervisory relationship in which you feel able to reflect openly, develop your confidence and deepen your SandStory® practice.

Sessions are 60 minutes at £100.

About me and my therapy practice

I'm Lara Kora, MA, MBACP, a psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, trainer and former university lecturer. I'm also the founder and creator of SandStory®, a creative and structured approach to therapeutic work using sand, symbols and stories.

My professional background includes psychotherapy, play therapy, sandplay, sandtray, clinical supervision and training. Over the years, I've become increasingly interested in what happens beneath the spoken story, and how creative approaches help us explore experiences that aren't always easy to put into words.

This led me to develop SandStory®, an approach that brings together psychological understanding, symbolic exploration and the therapeutic relationship.

At the heart of my work is a simple belief: the therapist's presence matters as much as the techniques they use.

My approach to training is experiential, reflective and grounded in professional practice. I believe therapists learn most deeply when they have opportunities to experience the work for themselves, rather than simply learning a set of techniques.

I now focus primarily on training therapists, counsellors, supervisors and trainers, both in the UK and internationally.

My intention is to create learning spaces where professionals feel supported, encouraged and confident to develop their own authentic way of working.

Beginning Your SandStory® Journey

If you're new to SandStory®, you're very welcome to begin by exploring the approach and discovering whether it feels right for you and your professional practice.

Many therapists first discover SandStory® through the website, introductory resources, podcasts or free online masterclasses. Others join an experiential Discovery Day to experience working with sand, symbols and stories for themselves.

You don't need previous experience of sandplay or sandtray to begin your SandStory® training.

I understand that choosing professional training is an important decision, particularly when you're investing your time, energy and money.

My aim is to help you find the training pathway that best supports your experience, interests and professional goals.

Whether you're exploring SandStory Therapy®, creative supervision or becoming a trainer yourself, you'll find information about the different programmes and how to get started on my website.

You're also very welcome to get in touch if you have questions before enrolling.
