About me and my therapy practice
A Warm Welcome
Hello there, Here is some information to help you decide if you would like to work together.
In approaching therapy, it may be that you are reflecting on your relationship with yourself or others, or perhaps you are navigating, or anticipating a significant life transition. Often, these experiences bring with them a sense of low mood or a persistent, unsettling anxiety that can feel difficult to quieten. You might be finding everything "tough going" right now, feeling stuck in a cloud of exhaustion or worry, and struggling to pinpoint exactly why.
How We Might Work Together
At the heart of my practice is a relational approach that honors your expertise on your own life; by providing a non-judgmental and empathic space, we create the safety necessary for you to reconnect with your inner resources and capacity for growth. To support our conversation, I offer several therapeutic approaches to help you express what words alone sometimes cannot:
Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT): We can use this approach to look at the patterns in your relationships and the "scripts" you might be following, helping us understand how your past experiences influence your current distress. You can find more information on the ACAT website.
Creative Methods: If it feels right for you, we can use art-making, creative writing, or miniatures to deepen our understanding and expand our perspective.
Integrated into my therapeutic approach we can use insights from Compassionate Mind Theory, Mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help us work with the physical sensations of distress, helping to soothe the nervous system when anxiety feels overwhelming.
Practice description
I offer a safe, therapeutic space where we can explore these feelings and consider what might be most helpful. Together, we will formulate a clearer picture of you in relation to your world, making sense of the "why" behind the struggle. Some practical information: I am an Accredited Counsellor, CAT Practitioner and Qualified Coach (Senior Practitioner EMCC).
I have worked in the NHS throughout my career and currently work in Christie's Hospital Manchester. I have a special interest in working with Health Transitions.
