About me and my therapy practice

I strive to walk in the world of my clients helping them to explore and identify areas in which they may choose to make changes. I hope that I am sufficiently sensitive, empathic and honest to enable a safe environment within which a strong relationship can develop.

My philosophy and counselling is based on the Person-Centred Approach, which is non-interpretive and non-directive, but I am open to and interested in other approaches and philosophies too. In particular I have undertaken training focusing on Cognitive Behavioural Approach, Psychodynamic Approach and Art Therapy.

Practice description

How to begin? We can start by meeting for 15 mins (for no charge), or we can book a one hour assessment session, to give us both a chance to see how we work together. Following that we can discuss whether we will contract to continue to work together, frequency, fee and other details. From then on we monitor the process making changes to our agreement when appropriate. I run a flexible diary which includes appointment times during the day and evening and at the end of each session we find a mutually acceptable time for the next. How to begin? About me and my therapy practice

I am a BACP Senior Accredited Supervisor of Individuals offering consultative support for other counsellors who meet with me to reflect on their philosophy and relationships with their clients - part of their own ongoing personal development. Some of my supervisees are in private practice and others are volunteer counsellors who work for voluntary agencies.

My philosophy and practice grounded in The Person-Centred Approach, but I am open to and interested in other approaches and philosophies and I have undertaken various trainings including Cognitive Behavioural Approach, Psychodynamic Approach and Art Therapy.

Practice description

Although my practice is based in Tideswell (Derbyshire), I also see some supervisees in High Wycombe (Buckinghamshire) and offer online supervision enabling flexability and support for those who do not have easy access to my practice. My flexible diary includes appointment times during day and evening. I can offer a regular supervision time or at the end of each session can discuss and find a mutually acceptable time to meet again.
