I work with individuals, couples, families and friendship groups
I am currently working remotely, via Zoom, 'phone, Zoom Chat or secure email, so please do get in touch to discuss how I might best be able to support you in a way that works for you.
About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome. I am an accredited BACP registered counsellor and psychotherapist (therapist) with over 20 years’ experience in the profession.
I work with a wide range of issues and with a broad range of clients, but much of my work has been with young people, families (of all configurations) in crisis ; those affected by complex and traumatic bereavement and those suffering with Eating Disorders.
So why therapy? At certain times, life can feel as though it's spiralling out of control and you’re in crisis. This might be due to historical and unprocessed life events; a growing sense of hopelessness that you cannot really put your finger on; or you may have arrived at a crossroads in your life and are uncertain of the way forward.
Therapy can offer a safe, private and non-judgemental space to explore such difficulties, and more, on your own terms. A therapist can support you by offering an objective perspective, identifying patterns of thinking and behaviour, asking questions that could support deeper exploration and help work towards identifying and understanding how certain stressors are impacting. Even more, a therapist can help you with developing strategies to manage the symptoms being experienced.
Whilst my training was largely humanistic (focusing on the individual as a whole) my therapeutic style is highly adaptable, so I always take into account your individual communication preferences and the unique lived experience that you would personally like to address in therapy.
Importantly, as per professional requirements, I have regular clinical supervision to ensure high quality, ethical practice. I am also committed to CPD (Continuing Professional Development) which means updating my knowledge and skills by attending workshops, training courses and conferences, thereby ensuring the most recommended and effective therapeutic practice is offered to all my clients.
Practice description
For the foreseeable future, all counselling and psychotherapy is being delivered remotely. Please get in touch if you have questions about any aspect of this.
My first session
I offer an initial non-obligatory 60 minute exploratory session which gives us the opportunity to talk through the process, discuss what you might need from therapy and see if I would be the right therapist for you: countless research has shown that effectiveness of therapy can depend on the quality of the therapeutic relationship.
There would be the opportunity to ask any questions or raise concerns that you may have. If we decide for any reason not to work together, I may be able to signpost you to another therapist or therapy service to meet your needs more appropriately.
Subsequent weekly sessions are also 60 minutes.
What I can help with
Abuse, Anger management, Anxiety, Bereavement, Child related issues, Chronic fatigue syndrome / ME, Cultural issues, Depression, Eating disorders, Health related issues, Identity issues, Infertility, Loss, Obsessions, OCD, Personal development, Post-traumatic stress, Pregnancy related issues, Redundancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Self-harm, Stress, Trauma, Women's issues, Work related issues
Types of therapy
Brief therapy, CBT, Family therapy, Humanistic, Integrative, Person centred, Relational, Solution focused brief therapy
Clients I work with
