About me and my therapy practice

Do you feel like you are trying your best but your best is never good enough?

Do you have children with SEND who make you question all the parenting advice you have read?

Do you want to feel more grounded and connected to your family?

The truth is that all parents feel that way sometimes. As a mum myself, I am passionate about supporting parents to feel empowered to parent in a way that feels more grounded and connected.

I have been working with families for over 15 years and I really know how challenging family life can be.

As a BACP accredited psychotherapeutic counsellor and clinical supervisor with over ten years of clinical experience I offer a space for parents to explore and understand their feelings and experiences to help ease tensions and anxiety and move forwards with confidence.

Practice description

I am an integrative practitioner, which means I bring elements from different approaches together to best meet the needs of my clients. I aim to bring a sense of creativity, respect and compassion.

I work online parents and carers. I offer short and long term work and I also offer one off ‘consultation’ sessions where we can explore a particular challenge that you are having and strategies to meet that challenge.

I have particular experience in supporting families:

Parenting SEND children

Recovering from domestic abuse

Struggling with school attendance

My first session

Our first session together will be a chance for us to find out whether we are a good 'fit'.  I will ask you some questions about what you are hoping for in therapy and what you are looking for in a therapist and you will have the chance to ask me about how I might work.

About me and my therapy practice

I am aware that I cannot possibly be the right supervisor for everyone. But I think we would be a good fit if you are:

  • Interested in both community and individual wellbeing
  • Working with children, families or education settings
  • Working in an integrative, creative way;
  • Interested in thinking deeply, whilst also connecting to your body;
  • Interested in how wellbeing is influenced by both our inner and outer worlds;
  •  Exploring organisational wellbeing dynamics

Practice description

I am committed to reflective practice that is compassionate, creative and courageous and offer clinical supervision to trainees, qualified therapists and also to professionals from other sectors who have a helping role. I specialise in supporting supervisees who are supporting children and families and/or working with education settings.

Before training as a therapist I worked for more than ten years in local authority children's services with children looked after and children with SEND. After qualifying, I worked for several years in the domestic abuse sector developing and delivering therapeutic services for safe-parents and children.  I have extensive experience of providing training on domestic abuse and trauma-informed practice.  Alongside my private practice I am conducting PhD research into teacher wellbeing, exploring the systemic as well as individual factors that impact teacher wellbeing.

I take a pluralistic approach to supervision, drawing on the theoretical approaches that best meet the needs of you and your clients. In particular I make use of compassion focussed therapy; psychodynamic concepts such as countertransference and defenses; creative and play based approaches and critical theory.

My hope is that in supervision we can co-create a ‘brave space’; a place that can slow things down in order to look at them closely, a relational and creative space that builds growth and also requires candour and curiosity. If this is what you are looking for in supervision then please do reach out and we can explore how we might work together.
