About me and my therapy practice

You may be considering therapy because something has become difficult to manage, or because you have begun to recognise patterns in your life or relationships that keep repeating. You might understand these patterns intellectually but still find that knowing why you feel or behave a certain way has not been enough to change things.

I am a BACP-accredited therapist with more than 15 years’ clinical experience. I have undertaken advanced psychodynamic psychotherapy training at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust and have worked in both NHS and private-practice settings.

I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem and difficulties in their relationships. I have particular experience in helping people think about the effects of early relationships, sexual trauma, emotionally abusive or controlling relationships, identity, race and cultural difference.

For some people, having a Black female therapist provides an opportunity to speak about experiences that may previously have felt overlooked or difficult to put into words. I welcome people of all backgrounds, and race, culture and difference can be thought about openly when they are relevant to your experience.

I offer once or twice-weekly psychotherapy from my private consulting room in Basford, Nottingham, and online. Therapy may be short-term and focused or open-ended, depending on what you need.

Practice description

Psychodynamic psychotherapy offers space to explore not only what is happening in your life now, but also the experiences and relationships that may have shaped how you understand yourself and relate to others.

You may notice that you repeatedly become involved in similar relationships, struggle to trust people, feel responsible for other people’s needs, or find yourself overwhelmed by feelings that are difficult to understand. At other times, there may be a persistent sense of emptiness, disconnection or dissatisfaction even when life appears manageable from the outside.

Our work would involve thinking together about these experiences, including what may emerge within the therapeutic relationship. The purpose is not to offer quick advice, but to develop a deeper understanding that can create the possibility of lasting emotional change.

My consulting room in Basford provides a calm, private setting with free parking and a bus stop nearby. Online appointments are also available.

My first session

The first session is an opportunity for us to begin thinking about what has brought you to therapy at this point in your life. I will invite you to tell me about what is troubling you, your relevant history and what you hope might change.

You do not need to arrive knowing exactly what to say. We can take time to understand what you need and whether psychodynamic psychotherapy—and working with me—feels right for you.

If we decide to continue, we will agree a regular weekly or twice-weekly appointment. Sessions last 50 minutes and take place at the same time each week.

My standard fee is £70 per session. I also offer a limited number of daytime concessionary spaces from £60.

About me and my therapy practice

As a psychodynamic psychotherapist trained at the Tavistock & Portman NHS Foundation Trust and with additional qualifications in integrative counselling, I offer clinical supervision that draws on a broad and inclusive therapeutic perspective. This enables me to support practitioners from a range of modalities and at various stages in their professional development.

Whether you are working with your first training case, navigating the complexities of private practice, or are an experienced therapist seeking reflective space, I offer a supportive and containing environment to help you explore your work in depth and with confidence.

Practice description

In our supervision sessions, we will use psychodynamic and psychoanalytic thinking to explore your clinical work in depth. Together, we will consider the dynamics at play within the therapeutic relationship, including what may be happening within you as the therapist, within the client, and within the broader setting or system.

You will be encouraged to think reflectively and creatively about the unconscious processes that may be influencing the work. This space is intended to support deeper understanding, develop clinical insight, and enhance your capacity to think about meaning, emotion, and relational patterns in your practice.

My first session

When we first meet, we'll take time to reflect on your previous experiences of supervision and explore what you’re hoping to gain from our work together. This conversation helps us shape a supervision space that feels both supportive and meaningful for your current stage of practice.

My fee is £80 for a full hour. I also offer a limited number of concessionary spaces for those who may need them.
