About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified and experienced psychodynamic counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP\). As a BACP member, I work in accordance with its Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions, providing a safe, confidential and professional therapeutic service.

Psychodynamic therapy offers an opportunity to explore not only what is happening in your life now, but also how past experiences and unconscious processes may be influencing your thoughts, feelings, relationships and patterns of behaviour. By developing a deeper understanding of yourself, it is often possible to find relief from emotional distress and make lasting changes.

Our work together can help uncover patterns that may no longer be serving you, enabling you to make sense of your experiences with greater clarity and compassion. As insight develops, many people find they are better able to separate the influence of the past from the present, creating greater freedom to make choices that feel more authentic and fulfilling.

I have worked as a full-time therapist for over 15 years in both charitable organisations and private practice. I provide long-term and open-ended therapy for adults from my practice in Worcester Park, welcoming clients from New Malden, Cheam, Stoneleigh and the surrounding areas.

Practice description

I offer a calm and comfortable, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about whatever is troubling you. Together, we can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at a pace that feels right for you. Through this process, it is often possible to recognise patterns that may be contributing to current difficulties, gain a deeper understanding of yourself, and find new ways of responding to life’s challenges.

I work with adults of all ages, offering both open-ended therapy and time-limited counselling for an agreed number of sessions. Whether you are experiencing a specific difficulty or crisis or you’re seeking a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships, I aim to provide a therapeutic relationship that is thoughtful, collaborative and supportive.

My practice is conveniently located within easy reach of Worcester Park and Stoneleigh stations and is served by several major bus routes. It is easily accessible from Cheam, Wimbledon, Merton, New Malden, Epsom, Ewell, Sutton and the surrounding areas. Off-street parking is available for the duration of your appointment.

While I usually work with clients face to face, I also offer online and telephone sessions where appropriate.

My first session

Our first session is an opportunity for us to explore what has brought you to therapy, what you hope to gain from it, and any questions you may have about the counselling process. It also gives us the chance to get to know one another and to consider whether we feel we would work well together.

Beginning therapy can feel daunting, particularly if this is your first experience of counselling or if you have had a previous experience that was not as helpful as you had hoped. I understand that taking this first step can feel significant, and I will aim to provide a calm, supportive and non-judgemental environment where you can feel at ease.

The therapeutic relationship is central to effective counselling. While trust naturally develops over time, it is important that you feel comfortable with the therapist you choose. For this reason, many people arrange an initial session with more than one counsellor before deciding who feels the best fit.

At the end of our first session, we will discuss how you found the experience and whether you would like to continue. There is no obligation to return. If we decide to work together, I will regularly check in with you throughout our work to ensure that therapy continues to feel helpful and that we are working towards what is most important to you.
