About me and my therapy practice
For over 25 years I have been working as a Psychodynamic Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I have a private practice in Wells where I see both individuals and couples.
I am aware that for many, taking the initial step of finding help for themselves can be daunting. There may be an obvious reason for one person or indeed one couple to seek help, for example a bereavement or relationship breakdown. For another it may be that life has become a struggle to manage from day to day without any clear explanation. Either way, I am happy to meet for an initial session to talk things through and offer my thoughts on the best way forward for each individual or couple. From there, weekly meetings may be agreed on for either a set number of sessions or for open-ended work.
We all develop patterns of thinking and relating to others based on our earliest experiences. We may not question these or even be aware of them yet they can influence how we feel and react to events throughout our lives.
Counselling can help us to identify and explore the underlying issues and emotional patterns which may have a bearing on our current difficulties.
As a Psychotherapist, I offer a safe and private space where, through the process of psychotherapy underlying patterns can be better understood. creating new pathways to lasting change.
My practice room is warm, secure and private with a beautiful outlook over St Cuthbert's church. There is free parking for an hour on the road beside the church making it very convenient.

Training, qualifications & experience
In 1999 I began my training with Wessex Counselling Service and Somerset Counselling Service, both then affiliate members of Westminster Pastoral Foundation (WPF), qualifying in 2002 with a diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling.
I went on to obtain the advanced diploma which qualifies me as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist.
I completed an introductory course in the theory and practice of group analysis with Group Analytic Network (West) in 2002-2003
I undertook an infant observation in 2004-2006
I worked as a senior counsellor for Wessex Counselling Service for 7 years before setting up in private practice in 2009.
From 2003 until 2011 I worked part-time as a family counsellor at Clouds House, a private residential clinic in Wiltshire. During my time there I worked with couples as well as individuals and as part of my training, undertook courses with the Tavistock Centre which continues to inform my work with couples .
