About me and my therapy practice
I work with adults aged 18+ and I offer in-person sessions in Stafford and by video across the whole of the UK, as well as internationally.
I welcome all kinds of people in my practice. Whatever your age, lifestyle, culture, sexuality or neurotype - and whatever may have happened to you in your life - my commitment is to see you for who you are and support you to flourish in the way you choose.
I am neurodivergent-informed, I also often integrate attachment style to my work and also work in a trauma-informed way when needed.
Here are some broad areas I work with:
- Untangling what's going on and making sense of your experience.
- Helping manage strong, overwhelming or unhelpful thoughts and feelings you may be experiencing.
- Identifying what drives you and how to make your life and relationships work better for you.
- Changing behaviour you feel has become unhelpful or problematic for you.
- Undoing self criticism and enhancing self care
- Navigating grief or other losses and life crises.
Our work will be tailored to you as an individual. For example, some clients prefer a practical approach with more techniques and tools to take away, while others get more out of simply talking through and exploring what's going on for them. Many clients like a combination of both, and this can change at different stages of our work.
If you feel daunted by the thought of counselling, that's very natural, many of my new clients feel that way. Often an initial chat together can help dispel any doubts and clear up any uncertainty.

Practice description
An important part of my offer to you is Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT). ACT is one of the world’s fastest growing CBT therapies with huge amounts of evidence proving its effectiveness.
You may have heard of mindfulness - I prefer to call it watchfulness - and this is an important part of our work together. It's not about meditation or positive thinking, but a range of techniques proven to help tame a busy mind prone to anxiety, stress and depression - and to make your mind work for you rather than against you.
We will always have time to make sense of your past and come to terms with whatever that may have held for you and be presenting in your present life - but I will also encourage you to keep your focus firmly on the doing of things that will be helpful for your present and future.
Working with women who have - or think they may have - ADHD.
I work with all kinds of clients, and a separate area of special professional interest is working with women who think they may have ADHD or already have received a clinical diagnosis - especially late-diagnosed women. My first session
In our first session we will take a broad look at the issue(s) for which you are seeking counselling. We'll explore what you hope therapy will do in relation to these issues and also things you may have tried already to improve matters. We'll also discuss your hopes for the future.
If you are in emotional distress then I will be able to suggest some 'emotional first aid' techniques you may find instantly helpful.
