About me and my therapy practice
Hello,
My therapy philosophy is grounded in the relationship between you and me. I believe that feeling genuinely seen, heard and understood can create the safety we need to explore ourselves with greater honesty, curiosity and compassion.
I recognise that each of us experiences life through our own unique history and perspective. I am interested in understanding your experience without judgement, and in creating a space where you can explore what is happening for you at a pace that feels right.
I believe that many of the ways we have learned to navigate life and protect ourselves developed for good reason. Together, we can become curious about these patterns and how they may be shaping your relationships, your sense of self and your experience of the present.
For young people, the therapeutic relationship is equally important. I aim to create a space where young people feel safe, respected and able to have a voice, while supporting them to make sense of their emotions and whatever may be causing them distress.
Practice description
I offer a relational, trauma-informed therapy informed by the Neuro Affective Relational Model (NARM), alongside my humanistic training and experience.
I see therapy as something we create together rather than something that is done to you. I will bring warmth, curiosity and presence, while you remain the expert on your own experience. We can gently explore what happens in the present moment - including thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, impulses and patterns of relating - and become curious about what you may be discovering about yourself.
I am particularly interested in how shame, self-criticism and patterns of connection and disconnection can shape our lives. My approach is not about trying to fix or change you, but about developing greater awareness and understanding. As awareness grows, new possibilities and choices can emerge.
NARM recognises that many of our adaptations developed in response to our early experiences and relationships. These adaptations are not signs that something is wrong with us; they often made sense at the time and may have helped us navigate what we experienced.
Self-compassion is central to the way I work. I believe that meeting ourselves with greater understanding, rather than judgement, can create space for greater authenticity, connection and freedom.

OUR FIRST CONVERSATION
I offer a complimentary 30-minute first conversation, giving us an opportunity to meet and talk about what has brought you to therapy.
You can ask questions, tell me a little about what is happening for you and get a sense of how I work. Most importantly, it gives you the opportunity to notice how you feel in the space between us.
There is no pressure to decide whether you would like to continue. If it feels right for both of us, we can begin working together and allow the therapy to unfold at a pace that feels right for you.
