About me and my therapy practice
I am a very experienced, fully trained counsellor & member of BACP (British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists) who adheres to their ethical framework in all work that I do. I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling & a Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling.
I am an integrative counsellor, which means that I have trained in several counselling theories; and use different tools depending on the issues you bring. In this way each session is individually tailored to your needs.
I provide a safe & non-judgemental place for you to explore any challenges or difficulties that you may be experiencing, at your pace. I work with a wide spectrum of issues including childhood trauma, abuse of any kind, addictions, low self-esteem, identity, suicide, depression & anxiety, anger, bereavement, terminal illness and many more. If you want to incorporate any spiritual understandings in our sessions together then I invite you to do so; if not I never impose any belief structure onto you, but meet you where you are and we go from there.
Practice description
I offer counselling sessions to help you to move forward and live a more fulfilling life.
Many people who seek counselling do so because they are feeling stuck; perhaps a general feeling that things are not right or repeatedly finding themselves in the same rut.
The way I work is to facilitate movement and ultimately to restore flow by giving space and time to the feelings and circumstances which have led you to where you are now at this point in your life. This could be to do with a single event, such as a bereavement or other loss, or a series of difficult experiences in your life.
In a safe and confidential atmosphere we work together at your pace to identify areas that are causing you distress or that are not working for you. Through this process an expansion of awareness can take place which aids you to understand yourself and your life better, assisting you to move forward or make any changes that you would like.
I walk alongside you supporting you with integrity, balance, honesty and empathy.
You can have a single session, a few, or work longer term, whichever you choose.
I invite enquiries so please get in touch.
My first session
After you make contact, I get back to you and we make an appointment for an initial session which is an assessment appointment. This gives us both the opportunity to get a sense of each other to see if we would like to work further together; it also allows me to get an overview of your situation to ensure that I can meet your therapeutic needs. You can also ask any questions that you may have.
This session is 60 minutes long.
