About me and my therapy practice
Psychoanalytic psychotherapist registered with BPC (British Psychoanalytic Council)
Supervisor in Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy accredited with Anna Freud Centre
Clinical Director at Albany Trust and Chair, Association for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the Public Sector
Practice description
I've been practising now for over 35 years, having qualified initially as a psychodynamic counsellor, then a psychoanalytic psychotherapist and also as a psychoanalytic and DIT supervisor (e.g. with Albany Trust; the Lincoln - now BPF; SAP - also now BPF)
As well as my work as Clinical Director at Albany Trust, overseeing a team of around 20 therapists and supervisors, I also supervise NHS professionals (Psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists and Psychotherapists) in specialist NHS psychotherapy services
I have been involved as an expert adviser on the NICE guidelines for Depression (2009 & 2022) and am keen to encourage more counsellors to use Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy, developing the DIT model for use with groups and with couples and families
In addition, for qualified counsellors and psychotherapists, who are interested to become Registered also within the British Psychoanalytic Council (e.g. at column C), or who want to develop their practice with more intensive work, I'm happy to support them to apply through the APPPS equivalence scheme.
My first session
I usually suggest an initial meeting online to discuss working together.
