It is often said that choosing to seek help and support through counselling is the hardest step.

I agree, and would say it is the bravest decision, often made at the most difficult of times.

I believe the Counselling room should be a place where you can discuss the issues of greatest importance to you, in confidence and without fear of judgement.

I am passionate about the work a client and I do. Believing the therapeutic relationship is the fundamental ingredient in gaining insight, understanding and ultimately change.

I qualified as a Person Centred Counsellor, graduating from the University of Nottingham with a BA in Humanistic Counselling Practice.

My passion for counselling is embedded in the belief that the answers we seek are within each one of us. The Counselling relationship offers the space to explore, learn about ourselves and most importantly the opportunity to be heard.

I am an accredited member of a professional body, the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I am committed to working within their ethical framework.

I am also a retired Registered Nurse and have worked in a number of settings over the last 25 years. I have extensive experience of caring for people who have undergone life changing surgery, and patients with a diagnosis of cancer.

About me and my therapy practice

I work in person, online and by telephone, and am happy to accomodate a hybrid approach if this fits for you.

I have availablity Tuesday to Friday 8am to 7pm

Practice description

I decided to train as a psychotherapist after experiencing its considerable benefit to me during a time of professional and personal upheaval.

My core belief being that when provided with empathy, safety, and a skilled listener we can begin to recover our true sense of self. Using compassionate curiosity, rather than critical, judgemental, internalised messages we can live more authentically. Improving our relationship with others, the world around us, and most importantly with ourselves.

Exploring our past challenges, and how they inform our present, can begin to unlock a more fulfilling future.

I work with individuals aged over 18yrs. My areas of particular interest are neurodiversity and gender, sexuality and relationship difference. I have worked extensively with trauma, grief, loss, and change, whether that be actual bereavement or a client’s experience of moving through life’s various stages and the resulting challenges.

I identify as Queer, Autistic and have ADHD

The only way to know if I'm the right fit for you, is for us to make contact, so I offer a free 15 minute phone call / video call / in person chat in the first instance if you feel it would be useful.

Sharing my knowledge and experience in the support of supervisees with therapeutic and ethical challenges, whilst also working as peers in an active exchange of ideas.

My theoretical background is Humanistic, with a focus on the Person Centred approach.
