My working hours are Monday to Friday, 10.00am to 7.00pm.
About me and my therapy practice
I am working online to shield my partner who has COPD. I have found online working surprisingly effective, either by video, text or e-mail. I have many years of experience in many different fields of work and I offer services to all groups of people and every variety of problem.
I am particularly interested in complex trauma work, grief work and relationship work of all kinds.
I have experience of using a wide variety of modalities, but now I often find Internal Family Systems work, or as it is informally known, Parts work, to be the most effective way to handle complex difficulties.
I am not a CBT therapist, nor do I work with young people.
Practice description
My clients have been helped through finding a truly warm, supportive and caring voice to speak with. I listen very carefully and try to find the core difficulties so we can work together in dealing with them. I can hold people through the challenges which everyone has to meet, or wait with them till they are ready to look again. Our work is not without laughter, nor is it without direction. I have sufficient experience to know it is effective.
I have plenty of experience in working with same sex couples, neurodivergent clients, cancer clients and people who are experiencing difficulties with pregnancies.
My first session
A first session is an important time, in which both parties are assessing each other and at the same time beginning to explore the territory we are going to work together in. You should feel secure, even if you are experiencing some anxiety.
I take care not to take the conversation too far, so it is traumatising as there is a lot of material that comes up. It is most important to be re-assuring and allow the person to ask questions about me, as I enquire about them.
After a first session the person should feel that they have told me sufficient so they can be reassured that it will be a safe and helpful process.
