About me and my therapy practice
Hello, my name is Beckie (she/her).
I am a BACP Accredited therapist with over 10 years post-qualification experience working as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I bring a professional, compassionate and human approach to my work.
My core approach is Person Centred, meaning the pace and content of sessions is led by you. I have continued to add to this through ongoing training in multiple areas including somatic work (the mind body connection), creative approaches and ecotherapy, and will offer these as optional ways to work in our sessions together.
I am also a trained Yoga Teacher and bring to my work as a therapist, the learning and insight gained around relaxation and mindfulness, weaving this into sessions to better support clients.
Since qualifying as a psychotherapist in 2015 I have worked in a range of settings providing counselling and psychotherapy to adults within; Mental Health services, GP practices, a Palliative Care service, Bereavement service and Health Insurance service. I have worked in various roles including senior counsellor, service lead and as a clinical manager of a BACP Accredited service.
I work within the BACP Ethical Framework, am committed to anti-oppressive practice and bring a trauma informed approach to my work.

Practice description
My therapy room is in Todmorden Community College, nestled in the beautiful Calder Valley, just a short walk from Todmorden train station, making it easily accessible from Manchester and Leeds and other stops along this route. There is also a free car park attached to the college.
The room is on the 2nd floor, and can be accessed via the a lift and 4 steps or a chair lift for use with wheelchairs.
I have not listed my therapy room as fully wheelchair accessible as the doorway is 68cm wide, which I'm aware may not be wide enough for all designs of wheelchairs.
If you have any particular accessibility requirements, please get in touch to discuss and I will do my best to find a way to meet your needs if I'm able to.
In addition to offering sessions in my therapy room, I offer sessions outdoors, walk and talk sessions and telephone or video appointments.
I offer a reduced rate for individuals on a low income, please get in touch to discuss.
My first session
Before your first appointment:
I offer a free 15 minute telephone or video call before you book your first session, so that you can decide if I am the right therapist for you and am able to provide the help and support you're looking for in therapy.
I would encourage you to make contact with more than one therapist before deciding who to go with, as the therapeutic relationship is a key foundation in any counselling or psychotherapy and will hugely impact how beneficial you find the therapy.
First Session:
All of my sessions are 60 minutes long.
The first appointment will be an assessment session, giving us a chance to get to know each other a little, for you to share what you are hoping to get from the therapy and to set out goals and work out together how we are going to work in the sessions.
We will also discuss confidentiality and complete a 'counselling agreement', which will set out how we intend to work together and expectations around therapy, as well as how I will manage your data in line with the Data Protection Regulations 2018 and the ICO (Information Commissioner's Office).
I tend to work with clients in blocks of 6 sessions, these may be weekly or fortnightly. This enables us to stay focused, review regularly and adjust goals and approaches as needed.
Booking a Single Session:
Sometimes a one-off single session of therapy can be helpful to address a specific issue in a very focused way. If this is what you are wishing to book, I will ask you to complete some questionnaires before the appointment, in order that we can get a clear idea of the session goal and focus and use the appointment time in the most beneficial way for you.
If you would like to enquire further or book in a free 15 minute call please either email or telephone, I warmly welcome your enquiries.
