About me and my therapy practice
Space for you. (Essex-based counselling practice.)
I am a qualified, senior-accredited, and experienced integrative counsellor.
I am also an accredited and qualified EMDR Consultant therapist. I have a level 7 diploma in supervision.
EMDR is an acronym for ‘Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing’. EMDR is a powerful psychological treatment method that was developed by an American clinical psychologist, Dr Francine Shapiro, in the 1980s.
EMDR is a complex and powerful therapy. Therapists always have a background in mental health before undertaking training in EMDR.
I offer counselling, both short and longer-term, to individuals for a variety of problems. Sometimes people have specific issues they wish to explore, with someone who can listen in a confidential and non-judgemental way, independent from friends and family. At other times people may be worrying excessively, feeling confused, overwhelmed, or low in spirit. I have many years of experience working in the NHS, with clients who have a chronic illness, Chronic Fatigue and Multiple Sclerosis. And I also have experience within the Bereavement and Alcohol Agencies.
I am accredited with BACP and work within their professional and ethical frameworks.
I would welcome an opportunity to build a therapeutic relationship, to work together to create and gain an awareness of the possibilities to make meaningful changes to your life, and together examine the choices available to you.
My first session
It is always helpful to first meet for an assessment, this gives us an opportunity to explore and clarify the issues and work together to understand the options available and begin to make a therapeutic plan together. it may be that other services could be discussed as better options at this moment in time.
