Availability

I am currently welcoming new clients and offer appointments Monday to Friday, including daytime and evening availability.

I can offer a regular day and time if you prefer consistency, or appointments can be arranged more flexibly if you work shifts or have other commitments that make a fixed weekly time difficult.

About me and my therapy practice

You don't need to have everything figured out before coming to counselling. You may know exactly what has brought you here, or you may simply know that something doesn't feel right. Either is a place we can begin.

I work with adults experiencing a range of difficulties, including anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, trauma and dissociation. Sometimes experiences can feel confusing, contradictory or difficult to put into words. I don't expect you to arrive with a clear story or the 'right' words; understanding can gradually emerge as we work together.

My work is founded in person-centred therapy, with psychodynamic understanding and trauma-informed approaches integrated where they may be helpful. I don't believe there is a single technique that works for everyone or every moment. Instead, I listen with care and curiosity and work collaboratively with you to understand what is happening and what you need at that point in time.

I believe understanding often needs to come before deciding what to do. Therapy can give us space to explore what is happening now, while also considering how experiences, relationships and ways of coping may have shaped how things feel in the present.

I will explain my thinking, adapt how we work where needed and welcome your feedback. We can slow things down when needed and make room for experiences that may be difficult to explain or communicate.

Therapy is a collaborative process, guided by what feels safe, helpful and meaningful for you. From greater understanding, there can gradually be more space for new choices, new possibilities and greater freedom to live in ways that reflect what matters most to you.

Practice description

I offer counselling to adults aged 18 and over, working remotely by Zoom or telephone.

Sessions can be weekly, fortnightly or at another frequency that works for us both. I recognise that the cost of therapy can be a significant consideration, so we can talk openly about frequency and what feels manageable within your circumstances.

Some people find online therapy gives them greater flexibility and makes counselling easier to fit around work, caring responsibilities or other demands. You can choose whether Zoom or telephone feels more comfortable for you.

Our work does not need to follow a fixed programme or pre-determined number of sessions. We can talk together about what feels useful for you and review this as our work develops. Some people come to counselling for a particular difficulty or period in their life, while others value having more time to explore and understand longstanding experiences or patterns.

However long we work together, the way we work can remain flexible and responsive to what you need.

My first session

Before beginning counselling, I offer a free 30-minute consultation by Zoom or telephone. There are no forms to complete beforehand.

This gives us an opportunity to talk about what has brought you to counselling, how things are for you at the moment and what you might be hoping for from therapy. You don't need to have everything worked out or know exactly what you want from counselling before we speak.

I can explain how I work, and we can talk about anything that may be important in helping you decide whether working together feels right for you. You are also welcome to ask any questions you have.

If we decide to work together, I will send you some registration information to complete before our first counselling session. This helps me understand some of the practical and important information I need before we begin.

Our first session gives us more time to begin getting to know one another and to explore what has brought you to counselling. There is no expectation that you tell me everything at once or begin with the most difficult experiences. We can start wherever feels most useful and work at a pace that feels manageable for you.
