About me and my therapy practice
I am an Accredited Therapist whose aim is to help you to feel better about yourself and the difficulties you are currently experiencing. I generally discuss what your problem is, how you would like things to be and then we work together to help you to move forward.
I have a substantial background in helping people to help themselves and trained originally as a Registered Mental Health Nurse. More recently I worked as an NHS Psychological Therapist employed in GP Surgeries. I am also a fully Accredited CBT Therapist, helping to give direction and solutions to people’s problems. I work within a time focused manner to give people the fastest help within the shortest space of time.
I have over 25 years experience as a Counsellor/Therapist and Psychiatric Nurse (RMN). I have a BSc Hons in Psychology and an MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I can adapt my practice to tailor it to your individual needs. I also know how daunting and difficult things can be when life feels overwhelming.

I am BACP AND BABCP Accredited and use and Integrative Approach in my work with clients and within my supervision.
All of the above includes lots of handouts and booklets, which can be emailed during or after the sessions to illustrate topics, theories or ideas discussed.
I have an extensive NHS Background, (Trained initially as a Registered Mental Health Nurse). I have worked with Adult, children and adolescents. I have also worked with people who have committed serious crimes and people who have issues with substance misuse. Plus I have Private Practice and Voluntary Sector experience
Most recently I was employed in two different Increasing Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) Services within the NHS as a Psychological Therapist.
I am also a qualified teacher in further and higher education so very much familiar with the challenges students of counselling encounter (I taught for several years on Undergraduate and Postgraduate Counselling/Therapy Courses).

MY SUPERVISION MODEL/PROCESS
I use the Seven-eyed Model of Supervision (Hawkins and Shohet) within this model I consider the following process.
(1) Focus on the situation
(2) Focus on the intervention
(3) The relationship between therapist/client
(4) Encourage self awareness
(5) The Parallel Process.
(6) The Supervisor’s own self-reflections.
(7) The Wider Context.
I also encourage Supervisee’s to think in terms of
(1) What’s the problem?
(2) How would the client like things to be?
(3) What might the client be able to do in order to action this.
Practice description
Sessions are 1.5hrs per month or 1hr every fortnight in line with BACP supervision guidance and take place via an online platform.
I have an extensive NHS Background, (Trained initially as A Registered Mental Health Nurse). I have worked with Adult, children and adolescents. I have also worked with people who have committed serious crimes and people who have issues with substance misuse.
Plus I have Private Practice and Voluntary Sector experience (Gave my time for over ten years in a City Centre based voluntary organisation, helping individuals suffering with potential mental health problems).
Most recently I was employed in two different Increasing Access to Psychological Therapies
(IAPT) Services within the NHS as a Psychological Therapist.
I am available for additional support if needed between sessions, if people encounter any ethical dilemmas or issues related to risk.
My first session
I offer a free telephone meeting when you will have an opportunity to discuss the context of your work and what you hoping to achieve from supervision.
I can give an overview of my working model and explain how this could potentially fit into your way of working. You can then decide if you feel that we can work together effectively or not as the case may be. You can then contact me following our initial meeting to say whether or not you want to proceed with Supervision.
