About me and my therapy practice

Harris Papachristopoulos – The Life Academy Psychotherapy, Counselling and Neurofeedback

Practising in London, Edinburgh & Online

I am a psychotherapist, psychologist, neurofeedback therapist and philosophical coach offering my services in Edinburgh, London, and online. I work with individuals and couples who are navigating emotional pain, relationship difficulties, trauma, and life transitions—and also with those who are seeking greater meaning, purpose, and inner growth.

My approach is gentle, relational, and deeply respectful of each person’s unique story. I offer a warm, grounded, and spacious therapeutic relationship where you can feel safe to explore whatever is present for you—whether you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, lost, or simply longing to live more fully and authentically.

The foundation of my work is rooted in person-centred and relational psychotherapy. I believe that healing happens in relationship—through empathy, attunement, and trust—and that the therapeutic space can be a sanctuary for connection, insight, and transformation.

Alongside this foundation, I draw on a wide range of holistic and integrative approaches to support your emotional, psychological, and spiritual wellbeing. These include:

Jungian Analytical Psychotherapy – working with dreams, symbolism, the unconscious, and the deeper layers of the psyche

Internal Family Systems (IFS) – helping you explore and heal inner parts with compassion

Somatic Trauma Therapy – listening to the body and its wisdom

EMDR Therapy – for gently processing traumatic memories

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) – especially in couples work

Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT)

Mindfulness-based and contemplative approaches

Cognitive, behavioural, and compassion-focused therapies where helpful

Above all, I tailor my approach to each person. Therapy with me is not formulaic—it is a living, evolving relationship, shaped together in a way that honours who you are and where you are in your journey

Practice description

I have a particular specialisation in working with complex developmental trauma, attachment issues, PTSD, and what is often described as “personality disorders”—though I prefer the term personality adaptations, which recognises these patterns as meaningful responses to early relational wounds and unmet needs.

Above all, I tailor my approach to each person. Therapy with me is not formulaic—it is a living, evolving relationship, shaped together in a way that honours who you are and where you are in your journey.

What I Can Help With

Over the years, I’ve supported people with:

Anxiety, stress, and panic

Depression and emotional numbness

C-PTSD, Trauma and Attachment Issues

Personality adaptations (e.g. BPD, NPD)

Neurodivergence (ADHD, autism)

Addictive or compulsive behaviours

OCD and intrusive thoughts

Grief, loss, and life transitions

Low self-worth, shame, and inner criticism

Relationship difficulties and attachment issues

Recovery from narcissistic abuse and codependency

I also work with those who may not be in crisis, but are seeking a deeper connection to themselves and their lives—exploring themes of creativity, purpose, vocation, spirituality, and the longing to live more consciously and wholeheartedly.
