About me and my therapy practice
I can help you make sense of and start to change what is troubling you, in a safe and confidential environment. We can work together to unfold your personal story, to help you gain greater understanding and acceptance of your issues and difficulties. My aim is to support you as you develop these insights and begin to make changes. There are many different reasons that people seek counselling and I respect the individuality of each experience.
My approach can help you explore and address immediate challenges by looking at how your early and past experiences shape who you are today—particularly in your relationships—we can begin to understand the deeper roots. This insight can support meaningful and lasting change.
I qualified as a psychodynamic counsellor in 2016 and I have a postgraduate qualification in Psychological Therapies.
I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, a professional governing body, I adhere to their Ethical Framework. I undertake a continuous programme of training to add to my theoretical knowledge and to remain updated about changes in current thinking and practice.
Practice description
I work psychodynamically which means becoming aware of how our past affects the present. This helps us better understand how our unconscious motivations may be impacting on how we relate to ourselves, and others around us.
This creates the possibility for change and enables us to move towards a more comfortable way of being. Developing greater self awareness and insight allows us to make more informed choices and fulfil our potential.
My first session
We will meet in the first instance for the consultation sessions. This is an opportunity for you to share more about what is bringing you to therapy at this time, for me to explain more about the way I work and to think together about what you wish to gain from it.
We can then get a sense of whether what I have to offer is likely to be helpful to you and, just as importantly, for you to get an idea of what counselling feels like and what you might gain from it. We will agree at this stage if we are proceeding on an open-ended basis, where there is not a set number of sessions, or for an agreed period of time.
The initial consultation fee is £62 per session. Subsequent sessions are weekly (on the same day and time) and last 50 minutes and the fee is £57.
For brief psychodynamic counselling, where we agree a specific focus and a fixed number of sessions (usually between 6-20) the fees is £57 per session.
Fees are paid monthly with BACS.
