About me and my therapy practice

I’m an experienced psychotherapist and accredited EMDR practitioner, offering specialist therapy for adults navigating trauma, anxiety, stress, low mood, and PTSD. My work is rooted in compassion, clarity, and evidence-based practice.

I have extensive experience supporting people living with complex PTSD and trauma-related difficulties, including first responders (police, paramedics, mental health professionals), journalists, camera operators, and diplomats. These roles often involve high-stakes environments, cumulative stress, and exposure to distressing events. I offer a confidential, attuned space to process what’s painful, make sense of what feels overwhelming, and rebuild resilience.

I also provide neurodivergent friendly therapy, including autism informed EMDR and support for ADHD, dyslexia, and sensory sensitivity. My approach is affirming, structured, and adapted to diverse cognitive and emotional needs.

Many clients come to me during periods of significant change—bereavement, divorce, illness, burnout, relocation—or when work-related pressures, poor work–life balance, or emotionally demanding professions have taken a toll. Others seek support for the long-term effects of childhood abuse, neglect, or attachment wounds. I also work with people who find it difficult to set boundaries, manage conflict, or feel safe in relationships.

Together, we work to reduce distressing symptoms, strengthen emotional capacity, and support meaningful change. My approach is collaborative, trauma informed, and tailored to your unique needs.

Practice description

I help clients move from distress to resilience — whether you’re feeling stuck in trauma responses, overwhelmed by life changes, or navigating the emotional toll of demanding work or relationships.

I work exclusively online, offering therapy through secure platforms such as Zoom and Teams. Clients often value the flexibility, privacy, and comfort this provides, and many find that online therapy supports deeper emotional safety and steadier trauma processing.

My primary therapeutic approach is EMDR, an evidence based method for trauma, anxiety, and overwhelming emotional experiences. EMDR forms the core of my work because of its capacity to create meaningful, lasting change. I also draw on psychodynamic and attachment based therapies, with elements of CBT, ACT, and mindfulness.

A significant part of my practice is with adults who experienced difficult or emotionally deprived childhoods, including neglect, misattunement, and physical or emotional abuse. I use inner child work and ego state/parts informed approaches (including dissociation informed EMDR) to help clients understand and heal these deeper patterns.

I work with clients from diverse cultural, social, and neurodivergent backgrounds, including those with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and sensory sensitivity. My practice is structured, affirming, and adapted to a wide range of cognitive and emotional needs. I have completed a Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism.

I have extensive experience supporting first responders, journalists, camera operators, and diplomats - individuals exposed to high stakes environments and cumulative stress. I offer a safe, confidential space to process what’s painful and rebuild resilience.

I bring warmth, professionalism, and over 18 years’ experience. I am an Accredited EMDR Practitioner, an Accredited Registered Member of BACP, a Counselling Supervisor in Training, and an EMDR Consultant in Training. I also work with EAPs and am a recognised provider for BUPA, Aviva, WPA, and AXA.

My first session

Therapy offers a confidential, compassionate space to explore what feels difficult, reduce emotional distress, and strengthen your resilience. I primarily work with EMDR, an evidence based, trauma informed approach that helps process painful experiences and restore emotional balance.

Your first session is a collaborative assessment -usually 60 minutes. We’ll explore what brings you to therapy - whether that’s anxiety, low mood, trauma symptoms, bereavement, burnout, or relationship challenges - and begin to understand how these experiences are affecting your life. This session also helps us identify your existing strengths, coping strategies, and the resources that can support your healing.

Together, we’ll clarify what you’d like to move toward: greater ease, confidence, clarity, stability, or connection. The starting point is always your perspective - how you understand the problem, how it impacts you, and what changes you hope for. From there, we begin shaping a therapeutic plan that’s tailored to your needs, your pace, and your goals.

If you’re unsure whether therapy with me is the right fit, I offer a free 15 minute online consultation. This is an opportunity to discuss what you’re looking for, ask any questions, and get a sense of whether we feel like a good therapeutic match. There’s no obligation to continue - it’s simply a space to explore what you need and whether I can support you.

My aim is to create a safe, grounded, and attuned environment from the very first contact, so you feel supported as we begin this work together.

What I can help with

Abuse, ADD / ADHD, Addictions, AIDS/HIV, Anger management, Anxiety, Autism spectrum, Bereavement, Child related issues, Chronic fatigue syndrome / ME, Cultural issues, Depression, Disability, Health related issues, Identity issues, Loss, Men's issues, Narcissism, Neurodiversity, Obsessions, OCD, Personal development, Pet bereavement, Phobias, Post-traumatic stress, Redundancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Service veterans, Stress, Substance Dependency, Trauma, Women's issues, Work related issues

About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced psychotherapist and accredited EMDR practitioner, providing psychological therapy for a range of client difficulties.

My focus is helping clients manage the impact of stress, anxiety, PTSD, depression, or low mood and the affects these have in their lives and their relationships.

I also focus on supporting clients to adjust to the impact of major life changes– these could be adjusting to bereavement, divorce or separation, illness, chronic health problems, redundancy or for example from changing job or location. It often includes supporting clients to work through past abuse, neglect, and attachment difficulties. Clients can also find it tricky setting boundaries and finding a way through conflict especially with people they love– so these are also difficulties we work through.

I work with warmth and compassion and offer a confidential and contained therapeutic space.

Practice description

My specific approach is to first help you reduce any difficult symptoms and then support you to build resilience in your life and relationships. I mainly offer on-line appointments via secure platforms including Zoom, and EMDR Remote. Online work is effective and convenient. I am well practised in attuning to clients’ needs and work confidentially with warmth, compassion, and resilience. I have a small number of face to face appointments in the LU7 postcode.

Which psychotherapy approach is right for you?

Therapy is essentially a private and confidential space to explore difficult experiences or emotions and find ways to reduce the negative impact of these in your life. Identifying the most appropriate approach to take is a key aim of the first appointment. We will talk about the range of psychotherapy approaches, but the starting point will always be to explore how you see the problem, its impact on you and your life, and what changes you would like to experience.

The session is 50 minutes and there will be time to get an idea of whether you feel you can work with me on a regular basis.

My Working hours are 9 am until 5.30 pm

Supervision sessions are usually 60 mins or 90 mins monthly. Or, more frequently depending on your caseload.

I can be flexible with timings.

About me and my therapy practice

I'm a Counselling Supervisor in Training and EMDR Consultant in Training, offering reflective, supportive, and clinically robust supervision for therapists who want to deepen their confidence, develop clinical thinking, and work safely and effectively with trauma.

My supervision is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in trauma‑informed, attachment‑based practice. I have over 18 years experience as a psychotherapist and I'm an Accredited EMDR Practitioner. I work with complex trauma, childhood adversity, dissociation, and clients in high‑pressure or emotionally-demanding roles. I support supervisees in developing clear formulations, strengthening therapeutic presence, and navigating clinical challenges with confidence and ethical clarity.

I work online, offering flexible, accessible supervision via secure platforms such as Zoom. Many supervisees value the consistency, privacy, and spaciousness that online supervision provides, especially those balancing busy caseloads, caring responsibilities, or neurodivergent needs.

My clinical background includes extensive work with adults affected by childhood neglect, misattunement, emotional or physical abuse, and long‑term patterns of shame, anxiety, or relational difficulty. I am experienced in EMDR, ego state/parts‑informed work, inner child work, and trauma‑focused integrative practice. I also support therapists working with first responders, journalists, camera operators, diplomats, and others exposed to cumulative stress or vicarious trauma.

I welcome supervisees from diverse cultural, social, and neurodivergent backgrounds. My supervision style is structured, attuned, and affirming. I also bring lived experience of a late ADHD diagnosis, which informs my understanding of neurodivergent processing and supports a supervision space that is clear, accessible, and respectful of different working styles.

I offer a free 15‑minute consultation to explore your supervision needs and whether we feel like a good supervisory fit.

Practice description

My supervision practice is collaborative, reflective, and grounded in trauma‑informed, attachment‑based clinical thinking. I am a Counselling Supervisor in Training and an EMDR Consultant in Training, drawing on over 18 years’ experience as a psychotherapist specialising in trauma, dissociation, and complex presentations.

I work within the Seven‑Eyed Model of Supervision (Hawkins & Shohet), the Integrated Developmental Model (Stoltenberg), and Stokes’ Online Supervision Framework (2018). These models support a supervision process that attends to the client, the therapist, the relational dynamics, and the wider systemic context. My approach is structured, attuned, and focused on the supervisee’s supervision question, helping you develop clarity, confidence, and ethical grounding in your work.

I have completed the Counselling Tutor: Certificate in Clinical Supervision Including Online and Telephone Working and am in the final stages of qualification, with two assignments and 20 supervision hours remaining.

Clinically, I bring extensive experience in risk assessment, dissociation, Complex PTSD, PTSD, childhood abuse and neglect, bereavement, anxiety, OCD, phobias, addiction, and trauma‑related presentations. I am trained in EMDR standard protocol and adaptations, ego‑state/parts‑informed EMDR, psychodynamic and person‑centred theories, and have additional training in CFT, CBT, and Mindfulness.

I welcome supervisees who are beginning or developing their EMDR practice, as well as qualified counsellors and, trainees on placement. My aim is to provide a safe, thoughtful, and supportive space where you can explore clinical material, develop your therapeutic presence, and strengthen your practice with confidence.

I work exclusively online, offering flexible, accessible supervision via secure platforms. I also bring lived experience of a late ADHD diagnosis, which supports a supervision space that is clear, respectful, and neurodivergent‑affirming.

My first session

Your first supervision session is a collaborative space to explore your clinical work, your developmental needs, and what you are hoping to gain from supervision. Supervision can be monthly, 60 minutes or 90 minute sessions. Other options are available to suit your needs.

Before we meet, I offer a free 15‑minute online consultation so we can discuss your goals, your modality, and whether we feel like a good supervisory fit. This brief meeting also gives you the chance to ask questions about my approach, training, and experience.

If you decide to proceed, I will send a supervision information form for you to complete. This helps me understand your training background, Professional Body, placement or workplace requirements, client groups, risk protocols, and any areas where you would like focused support. It also allows us to identify your preferred learning style and what helps you feel safe, grounded, and resourced in supervision.

In our first full session, we will explore your current caseload, your therapeutic approach, and any immediate clinical questions or concerns. We will also discuss your experience of supervision so far, what has been helpful or unhelpful, and how you would like our work together to feel. My aim is to create a supervision space that is structured, attuned, and responsive to your developmental stage.

As a supervisor in training working within the Seven‑Eyed Model, the Integrated Developmental Model, and Stokes’ Online Supervision framework, I offer a balance of reflection, clinical thinking, and practical guidance. Together, we will begin shaping a supervision plan that supports your growth, confidence, and ethical practice.
