About me and my therapy practice
Therapy is a deeply personal experience. It may feel like a daunting step contacting a therapist or contemplating talking about any difficulties. Confidentiality, respect and trust are at the heart of the therapeutic relationship and I endeavour to create an environment of warmth and acceptance.
Difficult feelings and life transitions may lead you to try therapy. This could include anxiety, depression, compulsive behaviours, stress, loss, a lack of connection with others, or simply a sense that life is not what you want it to be. Working towards greater self knowledge and acceptance can help you live a richer more fulfilling life, as well as enjoy more meaningful and authentic relationships.
I tailor sessions to your needs, drawing on my qualifications, 20 years of experience and continued learning in many different areas of counselling. My humanistic "integrative" approach enables us to work very much with you and your needs at the centre.
I have additional trainings/specialisms including working with children and young people.
Practice description
I offer sessions remotely via Zoom or Skype, and from my home-based practice in Colyton.
The environment in which sessions take place is very important. My practice space feels warm, safe, calm and allows for comfort and reflection.
I offer weekly, open ended or time-limited therapy, with sessions held at the same time each week.
The potential of nature and the outside world as a source of healing is well known. I am able to offer sessions of walk & talk therapy - taking our sessions outdoors and into nature in the beautiful East Devon surroundings.
My first session
I offer a free 15 min. initial telephone appointment. This is an opportunity for you to ask any questions you might have and tell me a little about your hopes for counselling. There is no expectation for you to prepare anything or know exactly what it is you need. I will ask you a few questions to get an idea of how we might work together.
Following our initial session you may wish to take time to think about whether I am the right therapist for you. Once you decide that you would like to take up counselling we will discuss a convenient time for your sessions.

About me and my therapy practice
I am BACP accredited practitioner with over 20 years experience in the field. I am a member of the BACP CYPF division and a member of BAATN.
I run a small private practice in East Devon offering face to face and online counselling and supervision. Therapy roles have included counselling in schools, in agencies and the charitable sector, in multi-agency working in Children Centres as well as in the field of holistic therapies. I am also registered with BUPA as a provider 30048635
My supervision practice includes working with experienced practitioners, those working within the specialist field of CYPF, for an organisation commissioned by the NHS and with counsellors in training.
I have a particular interest in reflective practice and supporting the personal and professional development of practitioners. Part of the co created learning environment will include incorporating aspects of different supervision models.
I am also a trainer/lecturer running workshops for adults, young people and children. I currently teach on entry level counselling skills courses up to university honours level degrees.
Practice description
I offer sessions remotely via Zoom, Skype or Teams and from my home-based practice in Colyton.
I have really valued the relationship I have with my own supervisor and base my humanistic developmental model on my experience as supervisee with an emphasis on the working alliance which can be applied across many theoretical models of counselling.
It is important that we can have open and honest discussions and that you feel comfortable to bring not only your successes, but your mistakes as well. I am very approachable and support my supervisees with a shared curiosity about their clients. I am patient and aim to foster a non-judgmental learning environment.
My first session
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. I am more than willing to have a free 15 min chat about any aspect of your counselling training/ practice to help inform your requirements for clinical supervision without any obligation to book further sessions.
If you choose to take up the offer of supervision we will contract together for regular supervision sessions.
