Practice description
As a parent or carer, it can be difficult to know how best to help when your child is struggling. You may have noticed changes in their emotions, behaviour, relationships or confidence, or perhaps your child has experienced something they are finding hard to understand or express. Seeking support is a positive step, and you do not need to have all the answers before getting in touch.
I am a BACP-accredited child psychotherapist working with children and young people aged 5–17. I provide a warm, safe and confidential space where your child can explore their feelings and experiences at a pace that feels right for them. I offer individual, family and play-based therapy in mainstream schools and online.
Children do not always communicate through words. Depending on their age and needs, sessions may include play, creativity and conversation. These can help your child express feelings that may be confusing, overwhelming or difficult to explain. My approach is child-centred, compassionate and respectful of every child’s personality, development, culture, identity and circumstances.
At the beginning, we will discuss your concerns, what your child may need and what you hope therapy will offer. I will explain how the sessions work, answer your questions and talk clearly about confidentiality, including when information may need to be shared to keep your child or someone else safe.
Your child’s comfort and willingness to take part are very important. I aim to build a trusting, non-judgemental relationship in which they feel genuinely heard and accepted. Where appropriate, and while respecting your child’s privacy, I will work collaboratively with you and others involved in their care so that your child feels supported both within and beyond therapy.
