About me and my therapy practice

Welcome to Melina Therapy, bespoke counselling therapy to meet your emotional and well-being needs. Offering a range of therapy services, including Individual Counselling, Trauma Therapy, Relationship Therapy, Wellness Coaching and Clinical Supervision. I am Melina, a BACP accredited counsellor with thirty years’ experience supporting clients with a wide variety of emotional issues, from anxiety, depression, loss, grief to more sensitive childhood issues, trauma and PTSD.

I am a specialist trauma counsellor and I specialise in sexual abuse, domestic and sexual violence. My practice is trauma informed, as it is important that you feel safe with me and in the therapeutic space. Often clients seek this specialist support to combat fear and anxiety, make sense of feelings, to heal and feel safe in their mind and body again.

I have expertise in addictions; drugs, alcohol and other addictions such as online addictions. Also, expertise in couples counselling and partners seeking support for relationship problems. And I provide wellness coaching for clients who want to prioritise their well-being and focus more on living a healthier, happier lifestyle.

I am English-Italian, living in the UK and I work remotely online, with clients here and around the globe. I am culturally sensitive and drawn to those who have been marginalised or targeted in some way. Often clients come to me who have been displaced, missing a sense of belonging, identity or going through a difficult life transition.

I am an integrative therapist which enables me to work with many mental health issues. Drawn from a unique blend of evidence based therapies, grounded in neuroscience, with coaching and holistic approaches to create effective individualised psychological care. I am studying Trauma Recovery Yoga and I am a certified Self-Regulation for Resilience instructor, which focuses on mind and body connections such as breathwork and meditation to help regulate the nervous system and emotional regularity.

Practice description

At any time in our lives, we can face personal challenges or have unresolved painful issues from our past and talking to someone who is professionally trained and impartial can really help. I believe that feeling safe, feeling heard and accepted are the core conditions to enable healing to begin. By definition I would describe counselling as the process of healing, to make or become sound again. I understand that therapy can seem daunting, however, starting the process is to open-up and heal.

In therapy sessions we may need to look at our past, the aim is not to self-blame, rather explore with compassion, so we can understand, change our narrative and our sense of ourselves and our story. And within this safe space where we can be vulnerable, curious, explorative and celebrative. Melina therapy is providing all of these and anything in-between.

Also, we can take an holistic approach and focus on the present to explore ways that will support and enhance your daily wellness and overall well-being, so you can feel happier, healthier and more content.

My practice is to provide the most effective therapy for you and my purpose is to be adaptive to each individual, not prescriptive to follow methodology, because it has worked with others - to recognise the uniqueness of you and the purpose is so you can feel better. So for whatever you are searching for, you will be met with warmth, openness and compassion. To support you at a pace that feels safe for you, with helpful tools and interventions to take away and sustain independently.

I have some availability in February 2025. I aim to find a suitable time that is convenient for you and I, dependant on your location, country or time-zone. Please contact me for all enquiries. I can offer a free 15 minute Discovery Call if you would like to speak with me in person to see if you feel comfortable with me and to access what supervisory support you are looking for.

About me and my therapy practice

Welcome, I am Melina and I am a BACP accredited integrative counsellor and wellness coach. I provide bespoke supervision for therapists and practitioners who engage empathically with clients. I have thirty years’ experience working with many issues, including anxiety, depression, loss and grief - to more sensitive childhood issues, self-harm, suicide, trauma and PTSD. I work in private practice providing individualised counselling therapy.

I am experienced in supporting children, young people, adults and couple/intimate partners. My approach is integrative, with person centred at the heart of my practice, combined with evidence based therapies, grounded in neuroscience with coaching and holistic interventions. My practice is trauma informed, as it is important that you feel safe with me and safe within the supervisory relationship

I am a specialist trauma counsellor. I specialise in working with sexual violence with previous experience within a Sexual Assault Referral Centre, Rape Crisis and Sex Workers Outreach. Trauma therapy is highly individualised, as each person processes trauma differently and how they are impacted by it. Often clients seek this specialist support to combat fear and anxiety and try to make sense of the complexity of feelings. I am certified in Trauma Recovery Self-Regulation for Resilience which focuses on mind and body methods such as breathwork and meditation to help regulate the nervous system, promote emotional regularity and feel safe in mind and body again.

I have expertise in addictions, having spent years working in the drug and alcohol field and with sex, pornography and other online addictions. I have expertise in relationship therapy, working with couples and intimate partners and wellness coaching for clients wanting to prioritise their well-being and focus on healthier, happier lifestyles.

I am mixed English Italian living in the UK and I work online with therapists here and across the globe.

Practice description

My clinical supervision is for counsellors, psychotherapists and wellness professionals to support their work and help reduce the impact on their own mental health. Often described as secondary or vicarious trauma, anyone who engages empathically with clients and is witness to material relating to their trauma can be affected. In adherence with the BACP Ethical Framework - supervision is there to support and enhance good practice and to protect clients from risk and poor practice.

My practice is inclusive and I am culturally sensitive. I am naturally drawn to those who have been stigmatised, marginalised or targeted in some way. Often clients come to me who have been displaced or missing a sense of belonging, struggling with identity or going through a difficult transition.

I would describe my supervision as a safe place where you can explore cases and be reflective in your practice, raise concerns and celebrate the joy of client work. In addition, we can hold space for your self-care and well-being, exploring work related stress or anything that is affecting your practice.

I believe that warmth, openness and authenticity are key to building trust and empathy within the supervisory relationship. I regard supervision as collaborative support, offering  guidance and learning, so you can continue to grow and feel valued as a practitioner. While the consistency of supervision is essential to affirming the supervisory bond and depth of the work.

My first session

The initial session is to get to know each other and that we work well together and feel comfortable with each other. During the first session this will give you the opportunity to tell me about yourself, your practice or role and anything else that is relevant. If you want to bring any cases to explore or anything specific, we can hold space for. My Supervision Agreement and Confidentiality Policy are sent to clients to read and sign prior to the initial session. Any questions prior or during the session or about my practice are welcomed.
