About me and my therapy practice
My approach is grounded in the belief that we all have emotional needs (Schema Model) and when left unmet, problems arise. I have personally experienced this, and when we engage with our emotional world, understand our needs, express our inner selves by allowing ourselves to be fully seen, heard and understood, healing takes place as these feelings are accepted and integrated.
I offer warmth and compassion, building a collaborative
therapeutic bond/relationship of safety where trust can be built,
where you can slow down and explore your experiences.
Together we understand behavioural patterns, limiting unhelpful self beliefs and critical punishing thoughts.
I offer a place to express your feelings and grieve without judgement, where you can process and heal emotional wounds.
Practice description
I’m Jansel, a qualified integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist.
I have over 25 years experience working with adults individually, and co-facilitating psychotherapy groups. I trained as an Integrative Therapist including Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Person Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Emotion Focused Therapy. I have delivered Schema Therapy for over 10 years, under the supervision of an Advanced certified Schema supervisor, including working with BPD & NPD diagnosed clients.
I have worked within a Clinical Team for 30 years, a GP surgery and a refuge for victims of abuse.
I offer therapy for men and women who perhaps feel overwhelmed, living with high internal pressure, jealously, persistent feelings of emptiness, confusion, impulsivity, unhappy, suffer with stress & anxiety, unable to sleep/insomnia, negative thoughts, depression or anger issues.
Do you overthink, criticize/punish yourself or others, people please or freeze, detach/shutting down your emotions or avoid when emotions become too much ?
Or are you easily triggered becoming upset and generally dissatisfied with life or experience low moods and unsure why, and a sense of disconnection from others ?
Or do you understand your behaviour logically, but find yourself stuck/trapped in the same painful patterns/cycles in your relationships or at work and can't change them or self-sabotaging patterns ?
Together we can understand and gently change the above. We find and heal the hurt that triggers the distress you are feeling, build stronger self - awareness , resilience, and healthy boundaries, so you begin to feel happy, content, fulfilled as you develop self-acceptance.
My first session
The first 50 min session will be different to ongoing sessions.
I will be completing an assessment and together we will discuss what you are wanting help with and formulate your goals in therapy.
It will also be a time to see if I am the the right therapist for you.
