About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Val. I’ve been practising as a counsellor since 2009 and I offer a calm, supportive space where you can talk openly and feel truly heard.
My core approach is Person-Centred counselling, which means you lead the sessions and we focus on what matters most to you. I also work integratively, drawing on approaches such as CBT, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis when these are helpful for your specific needs. I offer both short-term and longer-term support, depending on what you’re looking for.
I have extensive experience working with children, teenagers, adults, couples and families. I support people with a wide range of issues, including anxiety and panic, low mood and depression, grief and loss, trauma and recovery, family difficulties, autism, workplace stress, burnout, people-pleasing, assertiveness and communication, as well as experiences of physical, emotional or sexual abuse and violence.
Practice description
You can choose to meet with me face-to-face in Hornchurch, with sessions available by arrangement during the daytime, or online by video or telephone (Monday – Friday and Saturday mornings).
Online sessions can be a comfortable and flexible option, allowing you to attend therapy from your own home, save travel time and costs, and fit sessions around a busy schedule. Video sessions are held on Zoom and are fully encrypted, so your privacy and confidentiality are protected. All you need is a smartphone, tablet, laptop or PC, a private space where you won’t be disturbed, and the Zoom link I’ll send you by email.
If you’d like to see whether counselling with me feels right for you, please get in touch to arrange a free 20-minute initial discussion by Zoom or telephone. I’d be very happy to hear from you.
My first session
At our initial session I will explain how I work and answer any question you may have. We will discuss the counselling agreement. The therapeutic space is for you to be comfortable in a non-judgmental, accepting environment, be it in person, by telephone or a virtual meeting. At the end of our counselling session, which is 50 minutes, we would agree a convenient time and day for us to meet for our following session.

About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Val. I hold a Diploma in Clinical Supervision (CPPD) and offer individual supervision for both trainee and qualified counsellors and psychotherapists.
I work as an integrative supervisor, which means I can draw on a range of therapeutic approaches to support supervisees from different training backgrounds. These include Person Centred, CBT, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis and Psychodynamic approaches. My aim is to tailor supervision to you, your way of working, and the clients you support.
Practice description
I aim to offer a supportive, thoughtful space where you can speak openly and honestly about your work — including the challenges, uncertainties and successes that naturally arise in practice. Together, we can reflect, explore and find a way forward that feels ethical, grounded and supportive of both you and your clients.
Supervision sessions are offered by video or telephone, Monday to Friday during the daytime.
If you’d like to see whether we’re a good fit, please get in touch to arrange a free 20-minute initial discussion by video or telephone. I’d be very happy to hear from you.
