About me and my therapy practice
My name is Krissy and I am a BACP Accredited Psychotherapist, EMDR therapist and supervisor specialising in trauma.
I work relationally placing the therapeutic relationship at the heart of our work because I believe change is most likely to occur within a safe, trusting and compassionate relationship. I hold a space that is filled with warmth, empathy and authenticity.
I am a trauma specialist and have extensive experience supporting people whose difficulties are rooted in trauma such as developmental, relational or complex trauma. I understand how trauma can impact the nervous system, our bodies and our mind, our sense of self and I work sensitively with this, prioritising safety, stabilisation and healing. I work with many presenting issues that are not rooted in trauma in my private practice also.
My approach is integrative meaning I pull upon a range of therapeutic theories and models to best meet individual client needs.
I work with curiosity and compassion, supporting clients in developing greater self-understanding, emotional regulation, and self-connection. Whether you are seeking to process past experiences, understand patterns in relationships, or feel more grounded and present in your life I can support you.
Practice description
In my practice, you can expect a calm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where your experiences are taken seriously and treated with care. I understand that for many people feeling safe with a therapist is a crucial part of the work which is why I believe the therapeutic relationship to be particularly important. I will get to know you, and tailor the therapy to best meet your needs, something we collaboratively explore.
I am committed to working in a neuro-affirming, LGBTQ+-affirming and culturally aware way. I recognise and respect intersectionality including neurodiversity, gender identity, sexual orientation, culture, ethnicity, faith, class and lived experience, and I understand how systems of power, discrimination, and marginalisation can impact mental health. I aim to offer an inclusive therapeutic space grounded in respect, collaboration and a commitment to you as my client.
I work online via Zoom providing a flexible and accessible way to engage in the therapeutic work. Online sessions are just as effective as face-to-face and I aim to ensure that online sessions feel as contained, as relational and as supportive as in-person work.
My first session
I offer a free initial consultation which gives an opportunity to establish whether I am the right therapist for you and whether I have the necessary skills.
Our first full session with explore matters such as confidentiality and who I am as a therapist. We will begin to build our therapeutic relationship by exploring what has brought you to therapy and what you feel you may need from the space. By exploring your background at a pace that feels safe for you, together, we will decide how to work together.
Within this time we can explore whether a short-term or longer-term intervention is required and decide frequency of sessions.
My commitment to you is that I will do my best by you.

About me and my therapy practice
Welcome to my profile! My name is Krissy and I am a BACP Accredited Psychotherapist, EMDR therapist and supervisor specialising in trauma. I recognise it takes courage to seek therapy and I therefore thank you for choosing to read my short profile. Reaching out for therapy may feel scary, and you may not know what to expect, I hope to reduce those fears and give some clarity on how we may work together. I will be alongside you as you enter the journey of therapy, accepting you as you and creating a safe space where you can work through what has brought you here.
Often, in life, we can experience challenges. Maybe ones we were expecting, and at other times ones which completely blindside us. Sometimes how we feel about ourselves is impacted and sometimes we are impacted in ways that we don't understand. People access therapy for a multitude of reasons and whatever has brought you here, you are welcome, and I am here creating an environment filled with warmth, safety and support, free from judgment where I will listen carefully and respectfully and support you in the best way that I can.
Part of the way I work is to treat every client individually, tailoring the way I work to your needs, enabling you to just be with no pressure from me to be anything or anyone other than you. As such, I draw upon various therapies and therapeutic interventions to ensure I am meeting your needs. For those wishing to access a specific therapy such as EMDR or CBT, this is absolutely possible too. We discuss your wants and needs in the first session and decide, together, a treatment plan going forward.
Practice description
As detailed, I draw upon different therapeutic approaches to tailor your intervention to you. We explore what you want or need from the space and navigate it together. I offer both online sessions and face to face sessions in Plymouth. For face to face sessions there is a large carpark on-site and it is also on one level for wheelchair users.
I specialise in trauma and offer EMDR which supports the reprocessing of trauma to reduce the negative impacts it has, you do not need a diagnosis of PTSD to access this therapy as it is useful for many presenting difficulties. I am also neurodivergent friendly, with both personal and professional experience.
I am committed to providing you with enriching experience and as such commit to ongoing courses (I am currently completing a doctorate in counselling psychology) as well as ensuring I am up to date with current research.
My first session
The first session gives an opportunity for you and I to meet and explore what your expectations or hopes for the therapy are. It’s also totally ok if you don’t know that yet too!
For some, a short-term intervention is wanted and for others a longer term, psychotherapy. We will discuss this in the first session alongside what has brought you to the space. For many, weekly sessions suit however that does not work for everybody for various reasons therefore there is no expectation that you must attend weekly and we can discuss this together in that first session.
Feeling like I’m the right therapist for you is really important and this first session begins the building of our therapeutic relationship. My commitment to you is that I will do my best by you.

I offer supervision at various times throughout the week and there is the possibility of a weekend day also. I currently have space for 3 supervisees.
About me and my therapy practice
I provide supervision both in-person (based in Stoke, Plymouth) and online via Zoom.
Drawing upon the seven-eyed model of supervision primarily, I work collaboratively and relationally placing a strong emphasis on building a safe, trusting supervisory relationship within which supervisees feel empowered, accepted and heard. I am a dynamic, connected and curious supervisor, offering a space that supports both professional development and reflective practice with private practice business support offered for those it is relevant to.
In defining myself as a supervisor, I am a co-collaborative supervisor, who in keeping the client at the core, will support supervisees in a respectful, empathic, relational and held way. I commit to co-creating a space alongside the supervisee that is expansive, rooted in safe, ethical practice with reflection and growth central to the process held by a working contract and alliance.
For me supervision has, and continues to be, a space to reflect, take ownership of what has gone well and what has not, a space to learn and be collaborative with my supervisors to ensure best possible practice with my clients at the core and it is this that I bring to supervision as a supervisor.
I am hugely committed to and passionate about therapy which is witnessed in my work as a psychotherapist - as well as a supervisor. I will be engaged, interested and committed to you and your client work in a genuine, grounded way.
As a supervisor, I aim to provide a neuro-affirming, LGBTQ+ and culturally affirming space. I value diversity, respect individual identities and intersectionality, and aim to create a space whereby people can show up as themselves.
Practice description
I work full-time in private practice where I draw upon various modalities such as person-centred, psychodynamic, CBT and IFS. I am also EMDR trained meaning supervision can support trauma-informed and integrative ways of working. Working both long-term and short-term, I predominantly see adults, however, I work with some young people aged 13 and above and I do a small amount of couples work. I was a group therapy facilitator for 4-years in a previous role. In my practice my specialism is trauma however the issues clients present with expand across a broad spectrum.
My qualifications include:
Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology -ongoing
Post-graduate Diploma in Counselling Psychology
Level 6 diploma in Clinical Supervision
EMDR parts 1, 2 and 3
BSc Psychology – 1st class honours
Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling
Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
My experience includes working in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation unit, charities (child sexual abuse charity, counselling for young people and a bereavement charity), and the NHS. I have been in private practice for around 8-years, within which I see private clients and undertake some EAP and insurance work, giving me a broad understanding of different clinical contexts.
My first session
