If you have reached the point where insight alone is no longer enough and you want real change in how you experience yourself and your relationships, therapy can offer the space for that work to happen.
My approach suits people who are ready to look honestly at the patterns shaping their lives and begin responding to things differently.
If you would like to explore working together, I offer a free 30 minute consultation. This gives us a chance to talk about what has been happening for you and to see whether my approach feels like the right next step.
Sessions take place online via Zoom on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

About me and my therapy practice
On the outside you may appear capable and composed, managing work, relationships and responsibilities well. Inside you may feel overwhelmed, anxious or caught in patterns that keep repeating.
Overthinking conversations, struggling in relationships and feeling exhausted from trying to hold everything together are often where our work begins.
My work helps you slow things down and understand what is happening beneath those patterns. From there you can reconnect with a stronger sense of confidence and clarity about how you want to live your life.
Many of the people I work with have already spent time trying to understand themselves. They may have reflected deeply, read widely or even tried therapy before, yet something still feels unresolved.
Many of my clients also carry a great deal of responsibility in their lives. This may be in their work, their relationships or for the wellbeing of others. From the outside they appear to be coping well, yet privately feel the strain of holding everything together.
Often the missing piece is not insight but the space to explore what is happening at a deeper level within your emotions, your nervous system and the parts of you that are trying to cope or protect.
My approach brings together somatic awareness, parts work and a person centred foundation. In practice this means we pay attention not only to what you think, but also to what your body and emotions are communicating.
As the work unfolds, clients often begin to feel more grounded in themselves. They become clearer about their needs and more confident navigating relationships, decisions and life’s challenges.
Practice description
In our work together there is no need to arrive with clear answers or to explain everything perfectly. We begin with what feels most present for you and move at a pace that feels manageable.
Many people come to therapy because they feel stuck in patterns they cannot shift on their own. You may notice the same difficulties appearing in relationships, find yourself overthinking conversations long after they have happened, or feel exhausted from trying to hold everything together.
Therapy offers a space to slow things down and understand what is happening beneath those experiences.
My approach integrates somatic therapy, polyvagal awareness, parts work and a strong person centred foundation. In practice this means paying attention not only to what you think, but also to what your body and emotions are communicating.
Together we explore the different parts of you that try to protect, cope or carry emotional weight. As these patterns become clearer, space opens up for new responses and different ways of relating to yourself and others.
Over time the work helps you reconnect with your own inner confidence and self trust. Instead of reacting automatically to old patterns, you begin responding from a clearer understanding of yourself.
What you can expect from working with me
• a calm and grounded therapeutic space
• thoughtful reflection and emotional insight
• clear boundaries and a steady pace
• practical support when helpful
• a compassionate and honest therapeutic relationship
• growing confidence in yourself and your ability to navigate life’s challenges
My first session
Before beginning therapy I offer a free 30 minute consultation. This is a relaxed conversation where we can talk about what has been happening for you and see whether working together feels like the right fit.
If we decide to continue, the first session is a gentle space for us to meet and begin the work together. There is no pressure to explain everything at once. We start with what feels most present for you and move at a pace that feels manageable.
During the session I may ask a few simple questions to understand your current situation and what feels most important to you. There is no formal assessment. Instead we focus on what is happening now and work within your capacity.
You can read my counselling agreement in advance on my website at www.helentravis.com/terms-and-conditions. In our first session you are welcome to ask about anything that feels unclear or important.
What you can expect from me is a calm and steady presence. I listen closely and ask thoughtful questions that help you reflect on yourself with greater clarity. I will also be clear about boundaries and the structure of our work so you always know what to expect.
There is no pressure to commit to long term therapy. After each session you can decide whether continuing feels right for you.
If you are ready to book your free consultation, you can do so directly through my website at www.helentravis.com. You are also welcome to email me at helen@helentravis.com if you have questions before booking, or you can use the BACP enquiry form and I will get back to you.
