About me and my therapy practice
I'm a clinical supervisor, a UKCP-registered individual, couples and group Gestalt psychotherapist and a BACP senior-accredited counsellor working in private practice and within a GP surgery. I'm also a music industry therapist for Universal Music UK, BAPAM (British Association for Performing Arts Medicine), Help Musicians UK, Music Minds Matter and a therapist for BackUp Tech.
Before this, I was an honorary psychotherapist for Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust north London forensic service, a counsellor and mental health mentor across different London universities, and a Samaritans helpline listener. I was a copywriter for Samaritans during their male-suicide research campaign in partnership with railway network. I've worked with refugees and looked after children leaving care for Mind in Haringey, and was a ChildLine school ambassador.
Alongside therapy, I'm a magazine editor, podcaster, freelance journalist and writer, and the author of 'How to Understand and Deal with Health Anxiety', 'How to Understand and Deal with Stress' and 'Your Mind Matters: How to Talk about Your Mental Health'. I work with journalists experiencing vicarious trauma through their work, and I routinely appear in the press and media on mental health related issues.
My style is warm and empathetic: my aim isn't to interpret or define you, but to support you to define yourself. I don't give advice but focus on getting to the crux of your underlying feelings when you remove society's expectations from the picture. Sessions with me can often feel two-way and reflective, with lots of dialogue; other times they are more playful and creative using chair work, objects, drawing, music, movement, and dreamwork.
I'm currently running groups for women ambivalent around the decision of whether to become a mother.
