About me and my therapy practice

You may look as though you are coping while feeling overwhelmed, anxious or unlike yourself underneath.

Perhaps you are struggling with overthinking, low mood, difficult relationships or a loss of confidence. You may be going through menopause, a significant life change or finding that earlier experiences continue to affect how you feel and relate to others.

You do not need to know exactly what is wrong before coming to counselling.

I offer a calm, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can speak openly and begin to understand what is happening for you. I will not tell you what you should do or expect you to share everything immediately. We will work at a pace that feels manageable for you.

I am a qualified integrative counsellor with psychodynamic core training. This means we may explore what is happening in your life now while also considering how earlier relationships and experiences may be influencing your present feelings and patterns.

I have more than 20 years’ experience across counselling, mental health and therapeutic support services. I support adults with anxiety, low mood, emotional overwhelm, relationship difficulties, grief, trauma, low self-esteem and periods of significant change.

Menopause and midlife are particular areas of interest for me. These changes can affect mood, confidence, relationships, work and identity, and may bring earlier feelings or unresolved experiences to the surface. Counselling offers somewhere for this to be explored without everything being dismissed as “just hormones”.

Although this is a special interest, I welcome adults seeking support with a broad range of emotional difficulties.

Practice description

I offer both short-term and longer-term counselling, depending on what you would like support with.

Sessions are available face to face in Saffron Walden and online throughout the UK. They normally last 50 minutes and take place weekly at an agreed time.

My way of working is collaborative and tailored to you as an individual. Together, we can explore what is troubling you, recognise patterns and develop a clearer understanding of yourself and your relationships.

The relationship between you and your counsellor is important. My aim is to provide a warm, thoughtful and respectful space where you feel able to be yourself.

My first session

I offer a free 15-minute introductory telephone call.

This gives you an opportunity to tell me briefly what has brought you to counselling, ask any questions and get a sense of whether I may be the right counsellor for you.

There is no obligation to book a session afterwards.

If we decide to work together, our first full session will give us more time to explore what you are experiencing, what you hope counselling may help with and how we might work together.
