About me and my therapy practice

Each session is entirely focused on you and what you need. It can be a unique experience to be able to talk and be listened to each week and through this, great change can occur. To be understood on a deep level in a warm and compassionate space with someone who is dedicated to supporting you can often be the key to unlocking a different way of being, a different way of experiencing the world.

I am passionate about supporting you in finding this key. Some clients have arrived in therapy unsure that they can make the changes necessary to create a different life. They feel that their experience is so ingrained in them, that nothing will help. What I have seen time and time again, is this change gradually emerging and I witness the client's joy and relief as they begin to notice the changes that are happening.

How I see it is that therapy raises your levels of self-awareness as you develop and deepen the ability to self-reflect. And with awareness comes choice so those ingrained beliefs and patterns are able to be looked at in a compassionate manner in sessions, and once faced and understood, change is then possible.

I offer you different approaches and modalities to bring about this change. No two people are the same and so therapy with myself respects this and it is my role as your therapist to understand with you what is working and what needs adjustment.

I work with focus, compassion, encouragement, dedication and commitment. I am continuously updating my skills to be in line with what is being understood in greater depth about the brain and how it works as neuroscience evolves.

I also have a very open mind to what you believe in, no judgement of you or your experiences and we grow the therapeutic space together. The therapeutic relationship is a central part to your healing.

Please do get in touch with any queries or questions, I am happy to help and can offer a 15 minute free video consultation.

Practice description

I have been working as a counsellor since 2013 starting off in a Hospice gathering a very broad range of experience, some of it around grief, loss, bereavement, a lot of it about self re-discovery and then often the deeper work of truly becoming themselves for the first time.

This work brought me into Private Practice and deepened my understanding of the human condition further, of how people are searching for themselves in so many places as well as trying to cope with difficult, often traumatic experiences that have brought them far away from the person who they used to be and in turn this brings them into therapy.  The work of therapy lies in the uncovering and addressing of coping mechanism, thought patterns, ingrained beliefs that are holding you back from being who you truly are and living the life that you wish to lead.  The process of therapy I believe in wholeheartedly and with commitment, dedication and trust, it is possible to make long-lasting changes and live a life that is peaceful, joyful, and with purpose.

I work relationally with thought, care and attention to you and who you are as a person, offering a wide range of skills and ways of working with you.  I am strongly committed to you and your process both within the session and outside the session through regular attendance of CPD workshops, further research and reading, as well as abiding by the BACP's Ethical Code of Conduct and regular Supervision.

Please do get in touch to ask any questions or queries, I answer as soon as I can and am available to set up an initial session to see whether we are a good fit to work together.

My first session

In the first full session that is 50 minutes whether in person or online, I will take an initial Assessment with you.  This can take several session to gain a full history of yourself.

This is at the same cost as a full session.

15 minutes free for an initial call is also available for us to meet and decided whether I hold the right skillset for you and that you feel that you can talk to me with ease and be understood and listened to.  You do not need to make a decision straight away.  Therapy is an investment and a commitment to yourself and needs to feel right and that it is the right time for you to attend regular weekly sessions as far as is possible.

I take regular holidays giving you advance notice and it is recommended that you commit to weekly therapy that supports the momentum of what you are wishing to change.

The Supervisory relationship as we are aware is an essential part of our client work, and working together involves commitment and staying with what arises in order to support your client work and to bring insights and awareness of what is happening in the client-therapist relationship and using the Supervisory relationship to unravel and clarify what is happening. I will be attuned not only to you but to what is happening between you and I, offering suggestions through transference and projection. I will be offering you an objective perspective from different angles to help to inform you of what is happening in your client work.

I offer a relational way of working with you, my attention will be focused on you as a Counsellor and how to support you in unravelling any issues that you are experiencing in your client work and suggest ways forward that are supportive of you and the way in which you work.

I will be abiding by the BACP ethical framework and supporting you and your client work within this framework. We work collaboratively together, discussing all aspects of your work and allowing space for each client that you bring to the session. It is a place for you to bring and share your concerns with any areas of your work, discuss yourself as a Practitioner, your future hopes in further trainings. All areas are welcome with the aim of creating your responsibility to yourself and your clients as a Practitioner and feeling confident in the work that you are doing.

Practice description

I have a Professional and relational approach within a Supervisory setting. You can expect me to be committed to you and your client work offering you a space to discuss and explore your client work freely.
